Scotty and Lauren at CMA Music Fest

Scotty and Lauren were both surprise performers at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville this past weekend. Scotty performed Your Man (aka Baby Lock them Doors) with Josh Turner, and Lauren sang Anyway with Martina McBride. Although they both held their own, Scotty works the stage better than Lauren does, he looks like he’s been working a crowd that size for years .

I loved both videos… but, because I’m a sap and it made get teary eyed, I liked Lauren’s better.

As has served them fine in the past, Idol has locked up a dozen extensions of the toll-free number 1-866-IDOLS — namely, suffixes 01 through 12.

But because this season features a Top 13 versus 12, Idol will need an extra number to call into. Problem is, 1-866-IDOLS-13 (as well as 1-866-IDOLS-00) directs the caller to a phone-sex service. Who’s got the best shot at making it into the top 12 this week?

Oh, I STILL cannot STAND this new format. Last week showed us that we will be losing so many potential great contestants during the semi-finals. If this was last year’s format – no one would remember who David Cook was. Also, during the semi’s normally fans can vote fo more than one contetant, but with only 3 advancing, I wouldn’t recommend vote splitting at all.
