American Idol 10 – Official Press Release

American Idol big wigs put out a press release today, along with this seasons schedule.  In one of the worst kept secrets this season, as predicted, the judges will add their wild card picks to the top 10.  (No mention of how many wild cards there will be, or from where these wild cards will be drawn.  Hollywood?  the top 60?, or ??)  It is also interesting to note that even though it was wildly speculated that the top 10 would not be split down gender lines, in fact, it will be.  Five boys and five girls will make up the top 10.

Here’s the press release:


American Idol is set to return for its tenth season with new judges, new talent and new surprises along the way. This season’s judges – Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler – are a triple-threat of credibility, chemistry and talent. Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, whose career as a music producer and record executive is unparalleled, will serve as the in-house mentor. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, the two-night season premiere kicks off with auditions from New York / New Jersey on Wednesday, Jan. 19 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and New Orleans on Thursday, Jan. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

After the two-night premiere, auditions will continue for three weeks on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning at 8:00 PM ET/PT.

American Idol auditions continue in Hollywood on Wednesday, Feb. 16 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Thursday, Feb. 17 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) with the hopefuls who received tickets to Hollywood from the judges. The contestants who make it through Hollywood will then head to Las Vegas for the first time ever to perform Beatles songs on the Cirque du Soleil LOVE stage Wednesday, Feb. 23 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). The auditions will conclude on Thursday, Feb. 24 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) when the judges reveal – in an exciting new twist – 20 semifinalists (10 guys and 10 girls).

The semifinalists compete on Tuesday, March 1 and Wednesday, March 2 (8:00-9:30 PM ET/PT). The five male and five female contestants with the most votes will be the first to join this season’s finalists. The judges’ will also make their special “Wild Card” picks rounding out the finalists on Thursday, March 3 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

American Idol 10 – One More Cut Coming???

The top 40 will be brought back to Hollywood for a round called “Sing For Your Life”.  What is unknown at this time is if this round will actually cut the top 40 down to a top 12, or 15, or 20.  My personal OPINION is that this round will result in a cut – perhaps to a top 12.  Then the producers will bring in 3 wild cards, for a top 15.  Again,this is only my opinion.  “Sing For Your Life” may also mean that the 40 will do some sort of video and we vote on the top 40 to get out top 12, 15 or 20.

What is known is that during this round contestants choose ONE song to sing.  They can choose from the AI approved song list, pick another song, not on the list and hope that it gets approval, or they can sing AN ORIGINAL SONG.  (whoa – Finally!!)

There will be no band, no back up singers.  The contestants can choose to sing it Acapella or with ONE Instrument. They can play the instrument themselves or have someone else play it for them.  (They will not get to pick who plays the instrument).

Interscope may be involved with this phase of the competition.  (Interscope interviewed all of the top 60 while they were in Vegas).

I just wanted to give everyone an update on the Contestant listing.  The listing is being updated constantly, however it is not being put online for very specific reasons.  Our sources will go away once the list is put ou there for all to see.  We are just trying to get the most out of our sources, so please have patience.

American Idol 10 – Las Vegas Rounds

American Idol 10 is down to it’s top 60. The remaining contestants traveled to Las Vegas over the weekend.  Today and tomorrow the top 60 will sing a Beatles song with the cast of Love by Cirque du Soleil.

The judges will then cut 20 people.  The remaining contestants will make up the Top 40 of American Idol 10.  Those 40 contestants will then head back to Hollywood (a.k.a. Pasadena) on Wednesday.  They will be going home on Friday, the 17th.

I haven’t heard of any more cuts however they have part of Wednesday and all of  Thursday in Hollywood.  What will the be doing during that time?  It is anyone’s guess as of now.

On another note, we’ve had our first DQ of season 10.  More on that later.

Here’s a few Hollywood tidbits:

After Day one Half that sang were cut – so like 75 people

Among those cut were Rebecca Rose Ryder a.k.a. Bekuh Boom, Maddie Penrose and a girl name Shannon (May be Livewell), two African American 15 year old boys, and a 15 year old girl

Among those that made it through the first round were Jessica Cunningham, Jessica Furney, a gal names Rose, a guy named Nathan,  a Guy named Joe or Joey, a couple (like married or dating, ) Yellow Top girl from the previews, a brother and sister and two brothers, a 15 year old blond guy

There are many MANY familiar faces.  Lots of contestants  in Hollywood have made it to Hollywood before

EXCLUSIVE!! American Idol 10 – Hollywood Week Information

December 2nd, 2010

Hollywood Week during American Idol 10 is not really a week…it’s 11 days. December 6th (travel day and evening meet and greet) to December 17th.

All of the Hollywood bound Hopefuls will be boarding planes all over the country on Monday, December 6th, bound for LAX, and Hollywood.  The Contestants will be staying at the Pasadena Sheraton.  (Anyone in LA, how about visiting that hotel with your camera??).  I believe that the competition will take place at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium (300 East Green Street in Pasadena).

December 7th and 8th the contestants will be split into 2 groups.  Half performing on the 7th and half on the 8th.  The first cut will be on December 7th.  No instruments during the first performance, but they can be used after that.

I am assuming that it will be the regular Hollywood for the first four or five days.  After that, it’ll be new.  It seems like they will get a top 50 or so, then they will prepare packages on each contestant.  Clips from Songs, personal info, music videos, etc.  Idol is providing the wardrobe for the later rounds.  America will probably be voting on the packages, and not individual songs.

I will update this info as soon as I receive more info.

American Idol 10 – San Francisco Callbacks
