Idol’ Season 9 a year to remember

17. May 2010 Comments 5 comments

“American Idol” Season 9 will be remembered as the year without judge Paula Abdul, the last year for Simon Cowell and the year Votefortheworst.com rocked and mocked the Top 12.
This year is the litmus test for what will happen to the singing show if – and that’s still a big if – it returns for [...]

The Judge’s Choice songs for the Final 3 on American Idol are…

14. May 2010 Comments 27 comments

“Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney is what Ellen Degeneres chose for Crystal Bowersox.
Kara and Randy pick “Daughters” by John Mayer for Casey James.
Simon picked “Hallelujah” for Lee Dewyze
Interesting.  I would have bet that Simon would have picked Crystal’s.  Simon usually picks the eventual winner’s songs.  hmmmm.

It’s official. Casey Jones is trying to out douche Lee with his chin fuzz. It’s like they both forgot the shave one area under their lip because they were too busy buying bedazzled shirts from Hollister. STOP IT. Oh, hey, Ryan started the show! Nice dramatic head turn there, guys. You really nailed the timing [...]

‘Idol’ rehearsals: The Top 4 bring it with duets, songs from the movies

It’s hard to believe we’re one elimination away from the Final 3. Our season 9 journey started just about four months ago, when Crystal Bowersox was but a funny name among a veritable ocean of “American Idol” hopefuls. As for Casey James? He was little more than a studly Texan who may [...]

Cool, Texas, that is.
The tiny ranching and farming community where James grew up is rallying around the musician who is one of the last four contestants left in this season’s show.

The NGH Report – Thoughts on American Idol 9’s Top 5 Results

06. May 2010 Comments 2 comments

As much as I hate the filler results episode (I really do.) this one wasn’t too hard to sit through. I happen to love this style of music so it was great to see Harry Connick Jr. do his thing. But, how weird was it for Lady Gaga to perform on this night of all [...]

I just got a tip from a source that has been right in the past saying that he person leaving tonight is….

QUICK!! Who’s Going Home??

05. May 2010 Comments 10 comments

Harry Connick, Jr. was a fabulous mentor.  Do you all agree?  This season, for me, has been quite lackluster, as far as the contestants go, but the mentor’s have been out of this world!
I love Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack music.  My husband, Joe, sings Sinatra, so the music holds a place in my [...]

The NGH Report – American Idol 9’s Top 5: “The piano was a bit pitchy”

04. May 2010 Comments 15 comments

Here’s what I got out of this episode: Harry Connick Jr. was an incredible mentor. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been upset to see these mentors sign on to do the show and then put absolutely no effort into their jobs. Harry was a worker. He was a vocal teacher, he helped [...]

It’s time for producers to fix ‘American Idol,’ and here’s how

04. May 2010 Comments 7 comments

If ever there were a year we didn’t want American Idol to run long, it’s this one.
However you sort the blame for Idol’s falling ratings, there’s no question the final five singers who appear tonight (Fox, 8 ET/PT) are drawing the show’s smallest crowds since the second season. And surely the quality [...]

The Top Five – Who is Safe? Who is in Trouble? Commentary by Matthew Chisling

04. May 2010 Comments 3 comments

I guess Siobhan Magnus rode the Shania Twain one stop too short. Though she delivered one of her best performances last week, her fans didn’t rally behind her, and ultimately, she was given the axe. Had the judges still had their save, I suspect they would have used it. However, Siobhan’s [...]

‘Idol’ rehearsals: When Harry met Casey … and Lee and Crystal and Michael and Aaron

04. May 2010 Comments 1 comment

It’s not every day you walk into the “American Idol” studio and find Harry Connick Jr. at the piano, but that’s where the jazz legend was, dressed Monday casual in a baggy white button-down and loose black pants, walking Big Mike through his big-band arrangement — one that Harry himself came [...]
