According to the folks at Fox, there are no announcements forthcoming about just who will replace recently departed “American Idol” judges Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres (or the rumored-to-be-exiting Kara DioGuardi, for that matter) behind the show’s judges’ table. But according to Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, well, that’s just a formality at this point.
Probably.
On Saturday (July 31), at a party following Aerosmith’s show in Las Vegas, Tyler — who, last week, brushed off rumors he’d be joining the show for its tenth season — was asked about his plans following the band’s tour. And this time, he didn’t play it quite as coy.
“Probably going to be a judge on ‘American Idol,’” Tyler said. “I’m doing it! What do you think?”
Of course, that still may be speculation. Because according to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox hasn’t inked any new judges for the upcoming season of “Idol,” and there was no update on just when the signings would be announced. Along with Tyler, Jennifer Lopez has been rumored to join the returning Randy Jackson at the judges’ table.
Tyler’s sorta-confirmation was cheered by inaugural “Idol” champ Kelly Clarkson, who took to her Twitter account Monday (August 2) to write that she was “thinking of auditioning again just so I can see him every week.
