Fox’s Peter Rice says that nobody has signed any deals, in front of or behind the camera, to join Idol next year. “Much of the information that has been written is accurate; some is wildly inaccurate.”
Peter Rice, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Networks: I truly wish that we were going to walk out a panel of judges for next year. That would be a celebration for us. If we had signed deals we would’ve done that.
Peter Rice, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Networks: I’m not going to get into a blow-by-blow account of casting. We have auditions with panels starting next month and we’ll have a judges panel in place by then.
Rice is not just saying no new judges are signed; he’s saying there’s no signed deal with Nigel Lythgoe to come back, either.
When asked about Kara’s future he states: I’m not going to get into the speculation about it. It’s not fair to everyone being speculated about.

Peter Rice, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Networks: When we have a signed deal, we’re going to announce it. We’re excited about the new judging panel. We never felt it was hard. We, unfortunately, were unable to do it by TCA.

Peter Rice, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Networks: the goal is to put on a great television show. 1. finding a new star. 2. the alchemy of the judges panel.
Does that mean we should replace them identically? I don’t think so. Monday August 2, 2010 11:20
