And I can see fans comparing Lee’s rendition of “Hallelujah” with Tim Urban’s earlier this season – and Tim coming out on top (though I hate admitting that). And I think many of us are tired of that song on AI already.

All the talk about the judges and producers setting Crystal up to win is becoming absurd. Of course they are, and isn’t it clear why? There are no other viable winners in the contest.
I haven’t watched Idol all season (well, since Alex left), but I stumbled across this. How is it fair that Kara and Randy have to chose a song together?! And it’s obvious the producers never want Simon to pick the underdog’s song. These people are absolutely stupid, omg. This show has to be one of the most messed up shows. They are so unfair, not only in the voting, but in everything they do! Wow.
Take one guess as to who owns the rights to “Hallelujah.” I mean, that song has now been covered by Il Divo, 5 different “X-Factor” contestants, Jason Castro, and now 2 different contestants on the SAME season of “Idol.” That’s just gross profiteering at it’s worst. I don’t happen to think that the decision to saddle Lee with this particular song was any conscious attempt to throw him under the bus, just another way for Simon to line his pockets with more filthy lucre.
Maybe Randy & Kara thought Mike was going to be in the final 3 – Daughters would have been good for him???
I like Casey’s pick… I’ve been wanting to hear him sing this song.. Crystal’s pick is def. the best of the 3… and Seriously.. Hallelujah.. again?? Yeea.. Lee isn’t going to win.
Simon is tossing Lee a softball, he cannot lose with that song. It has a multitude of covers- famously done and the original is meant to showcase a less than perfect technical voice to show off vulnerability. It could very easily be a “moment” plus, its familiar and hugely popular still.
Crystals song is old fashioned and uncurrent and she is going to have to tweak it to make it sound playable on the radio.
Casey got tossed under the bus, one of the least familiar songs ever on idol by the guy women hate now, and its slow slow slow with no build.
I am going to quote one of Simon’s usual comments when I say, “of all the songs to choose from,” why on earth would they pick one that has already been done this season, and other seasons too??? Ridiculous. Casey should do fairly well with the John Mayer song, but he had better step up his game. Lee should try to stay on key for a change. For the life of me I don’t see what the judges rave about in him. Crystal will do fine with Maybe I’m Amazed, but she will make it sound like all her other songs. She’s really the only one left with true vocal chops. Even though I would probably not ever buy any of her recordings and even though I don’t think she has the “it” factor, she IS the only one left who deserves to win, but we all know how that goes.
Simon picked Adam’s song so Crystal will probably win.
Diana, you should download lee’s songs on itunes. He’s always on key in them.
Literally anyone can sing in tune in a studio recording, where ProTools and AutoTune are used regularly to sweeten the voices and keep them on key. The true test of a good singer is how they sound when they are singing live.

Of course Lee is always on key with the studio downloads. So is Casey. That’s because they can do retakes until it’s the way they want it. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be buying ANY of the studio downloads from ANY of the contestants this year, though I guess I already did when I bought Casey’s Jealous Guy. Haven’t liked anything else he has done, though. This season is just one big disapointment.
I believe that Lee is going to be very successful. Singing out of key at times will not keep him from being a star. His studio versions are amazing, and I think his first album will do great. Crystal, on the other hand….well let’s just say that type of music died a couple decades ago.

Uh singing out of key will not keep him from being a star? Most of the money artists make is by touring and not many people will want to pay money to see Lee mumble off key.
Of course the studios are great. All of their studios are all on key. Thanks to autotune and multiple retakes
Lee got a great song. Yeah its been done once this season but its hard to go out of tune with a song like that. Even Tim urban did a decent job, Lee should be fine

I think its ridiculous when people say that if you can’t sing in key live that you will never make money in this business. Have you people not listened to any of the current and past money makers? Lady Gaga cannot keep a tune live, Madonna, and even out of mainstream pop- the genre that Lee is going into NOBODY can sing in key live.
Even Alicia Keys and the Black Eyed Peas tanked on Idol. It’s all about the natural tone in the voice and Lee has a brilliant natural tone. All he has to do is release a single that gets airplay and he is good to go.

90% of the singers on the best sellers list CANNOT sing live in tune.
I don’t think being in tune and not flat is too much to ask of a singer. However, Peg is correct in that there are many out there who are horrible singers and are still at the top of the charts, Ke$ha is come who comes to mind. I have never heard Gaga sing out of tune live, though, but then I haven’t seen many of her performances. But, getting back to Lee, not only has he been off key on most of his Idol performances, but he is dull as dirt on stage with no real personna other than being totally without emotion and blank in the face. I certainly don’t want to see him live, nor do I want his CD.
to dadada, most of today’s major artists are only on key on their cd’s because of autotuning. anyone who can even remotly sing today will be just fine
Just wondering if any of the people saying Lee can’t sing in tune live bothered to watch his hometown videos. He sounded great. Just beccause you don’t like the tone of his voice doesn’t mean it’s off key. I’ve heard people say Crystal is shrieky and other people say she’s a great singer. It’s all an opinion.
Lee is amazing. I love his voice.
He entertains me every week and since he’s still there I’d say he entertains others as well, so clearly he isn’t “dull as dirt.”
