If it changes to where the Judges score the contestants and voting doesn’t count as much, I’ll pack it in. Why have a TV show to let viewers pick who they like, only to have the Judges ultimately decide. Just do the back room deals that music labels do now then.
They already tried the ‘Celebrity’ singing thing. Remember Duets or something? It was done on the Idol stage even, Marie Osmond and David Foster were 2 of the 3 Judges (Can’t remember 3rd). It tanked. Bad.

Idol is still the most popular television show and DWTS had their worst finale ratings since the show began. All ratings for TV have dropped. Celebrity idol is a horrible idea and goes against everything Idol stands for. Dancing with the stars is Dancing with the STARS- its not So you think you can dance. IF Kate Gosselin was not on DWTS this year the ratings would have been a lot lower. She was a fun train wreck to watch.
