‘American Idol:’ Simon Cowell replacement to be named after finale

If you were hoping that “American Idol” was planning to kick off their finale on May 26 by announcing the replacement for Simon Cowell, prepare to be disappointed. According to a new report by Entertainment Weekly, the show’s executives are going to be extremely patient in terms of coming up with someone to sit in the judge’s chair.

So far, there have been a number of big names linked to the seat — from Howard Stern to Elton John to even former “Idol” contestant Adam Lambert. However, none of these have been proven to be anything more than mere rumors, and it’s likely that “Idol” will likely look for someone with serious music credentials in order to keep the show’s credibility as a talent competition. They need someone to be brutally honest, even when it may not be the easiest thing to do.
