She comes across as very sincere in her music - as opposed to Katie, who comes across as a pageant contestant. (Although Katie is probably a terrific kid, that doesn't mean she connects through her music.) I think it will be interesting to watch how the American Idol format and experience shapes Crystal's music. She is obviously flush with talent, but the adaptation of her gifts for this stage might be really cool to watch. I'd pay to go see her perform right now, but she could get even better if she can move out of her comfort zone successfully. She does come off as a bit too cool for this singing competition stuff, but that is some of her charm and it doesn't seem like posturing. Oh and Siobhan is pretty good too! DaveS: I was thinking MawMaw was insightful for the response given regarding Crystal being a “foul mouthed dirty hippie” until I read the last rant. I also like Crysytal, but unlike MawMaw I won’t denegrate whole classes of people who may vote otherwise.
