One of our posters,rk349097, posted the Rolling Stones Songs that the contestants will be singing this week. Access Hollywood must have spoiled the songs. Here’s what rk349097 had to say:
According to Access Hollywood, Siobhan Magnus is going to sing “Paint It, Black” this week. Honestly, I don’t know if this is wise or not. This could be great, or it could be an absolute train wreck.
My guesses for the remaining contestants:
1. Casey James: “Tumbling Dice”- “Honky Tonk Women” would also work, but it would be a huge cliché for Casey to play that song.
2. Lee DeWyze: “It’s Only Rock and Roll”- Lee could also pick the Guns ‘n Roses version of “Sympathy For the Devil,” if he’s so inclined.
3. Michael Lynche: “Fool to Cry”- This is as close to a slow soul jam as the Stones have written. This song fits Big Mike like a glove, particularly given its father-daughter themes.
4. Aaron Kelly: “No Expectations”- No pun intended here. Few of the Stones’ many country-style songs fit Aaron well, but this one comes the closest.
5. Andrew Garcia: “Beast of Burden”- If Andrew can find the soulful spot in his voice this week, he could actually do pretty well with this song.
6. Tim Urban: “Angie”- This may actually fit Tim’s voice pretty well, if anything can.
7. Crystal Bowersox: “Gimme Shelter”- If you’ve ever heard Patti Smith’s cover of this song, you can imagine what this could sound like. This could be another blow-away performance.
8. Didi Benami: “Shine a Light”- Didi is a tough one to pick for, as none of the songs really suit her well. If she re-works this song to fit her voice, she could have a real moment with it.
9. Lacey Brown: “Wild Horses”- You know someone will do it. If Lacey does the Sundays’ version (and NOT Susan Boyle’s- ugh), it could work.
10. Katie Stevens: “As Tears Go By”- I don’t know if Katie has the world-weariness to pull off Marianne Faithfull’s version, but it’s not like she has a lot of choices here.
11. Paige Miles: “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”- Aretha Franklin recorded a cover of this song, which could work for Paige.
So the only certainty is “paint it black”?

Guys, I don’t want to burst your bubble, but the only song choice that Access Hollywood had reported on was Siobhan’s (this was posted on MJ’s blog). The rest were pure speculation on my part. Please don’t take my guesses as a legitimate spoiler, as they weren’t intended to be. I deeply apologize that I wasn’t more clear with that in my previous post.
Felicia, the songs that I had listed were taken from a larger list that is accessible via iTunes. As far as I know, the contestants are able to choose any song from that list, not just the 12 that I posted. Again, I’m really, really sorry if my post was taken as a spoiler. Only Siobhan’s song choice has been leaked (and I don’t really know if Access Hollywood has it right, if I’m being honest) as of today.

i think didi should sing streets of love! the high notes would sound beautiful with her tone of voice! I also think that paint it black is a cool choice for siobhan. I can already imagine her hitting those amazing notes by the end of the song

Because I have no life (natch), I was looking through YouTube to see if there were any cover versions of “Paint It, Black” that could be similar to what Siobhan is going to give us. Perhaps the closest version to her vocal range may be from Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, a New England-based rock band (I would guess that Siobhan has probably heard of them). I am starting to think that this performance will have an “Adam Lambert does ‘Ring of Fire’” vibe, which can be either be a good thing or bad thing (depending on your perspective.
I think that the for sure, Paige will flunk the Rolling Stones idea. She will not be able to sing very well, because of the theme. She is never really good, in my honest opinion.
rk – they’re all great food for thought – some of these contestants could use your help I’m thinking. If Garcia could pull off something like Beast of Burden he could throw himself back into the competition. Or, if he doesn’t pull it off, throw himself under a bus.
