Howard Stern says filling Simon Cowell’s seat on American Idol would be the “best thing that happened to me” — but he would have to make “a ton of dough. ”

“Yeah, I would do that show for $100 million,” Stern told his Sirius satellite radio listeners Monday, reports TheWrap.

“It might be possible, we’ll see, “said Stern. “They‘d have to pay me a ton of dough, because I already make a ton of dough.”

Is Howard Stern replacing Simon Cowell on Idol?

Stern’s five-year $500 million contract with Sirius expires at the end of this year.

Stern, 56, said he might be the only person who could fill the void left by Cowell.

Who should replace Simon Cowell on American Idol?

“If I do say so myself, I can’t imagine anyone else but me replacing [Cowell],” Stern said. “I mean, I don’t know. How else are they going to make that show work? Who knows how to broadcast and who knows how to be interesting? And who’s not afraid to speak their mind?”

he’s a little full of himself… ryan seacrest can broadcast and is usually interesting and also has been known to let simon know when he thinks he was wrong about a performance, doesn’t mean he should take simon’s place though. they need someone who works for a record company like simon and who would actually take control of the show and sign these kids when they are done, i don’t think howard stern can do that and i think he would play the same role ellen already has except i think ellen is going to be better than stern would be.

Could Howard Stern be any more arrogant? A.I. is shown at what is considered “Family Viewing Hour”. Howard does NOT fit the bill. Take your ton of money, and shove it, Howard! I can’t think of anyone in the entertainment business I like less than him. He’s just creepy…
