However, I already know her from her tv show, and I worry I will see her as Ellen the Talk Show Host (who happens to be judging on Idol) instead of Ellen the Idol Judge. I also think they should have chosen someone who has, or had, a career in music to be the new judge, since a musician can better assess the technical merits of the performers' singing.
