Here’s the first look at American Idol’s newest Judge, Ellen Degeneres:
We’ve seen Ellen DeGeneres in the Photoshopped American Idol publicity pics. We’ve heard her enthusiastically talk about being a judge. Now, finally, we get to see her in action…for 15 whole seconds!
Well, at least that’s all we get right now in this new spot promoting both the singing competition’s Hollywood Week as well as the show’s newest addition.
While it’s kinda hard to, er, judge, her abilities here, we do get a little taste of that Ellen wit.
So what do you think? Does she look out of place, or does she have you saying, Paula who?
I think Ellen is a very entertaining person, and I think she will be fun to watch. However, I already know her from her tv show, and I worry I will see her as Ellen the Talk Show Host (who happens to be judging on Idol) instead of Ellen the Idol Judge. I also think they should have chosen someone who has, or had, a career in music to be the new judge, since a musician can better assess the technical merits of the performers’ singing.

I think she will be better than we all expect her to be. (plus she can’t be any worst than Paula…)

they already have 3 people in the music industry to give feedback about the voice, im glad she’s there because unlike paula she can put a sentence together coherently.
