*A contestant on the upcoming season of “American Idol” has reported her mother missing in suburban Chicago after last seeing her on Christmas Day.
Angela Martin says she last saw her mom, Viola Brown Martin, after the family shared Christmas dinner. In an interview with Fox Chicago, Angela says her mother got into her car Saturday for a 20-minute trip to visit another daughter, but never arrived.
On New Year’s Eve, police found her car near the south suburbs of Riverdale and Dixmoor, nowhere near her destination five days ago. Viola’s boyfriend, according to Fox, was the last to see her.
Angela is experiencing her third go-round with “American Idol.” She auditioned unsuccessfully for season 7 with Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” and then last season made it to the Hollywood round, which took place just after the murder of her father.
