In eight seasons, Fox has never rebroadcast an episode of American Idol.  However, due to the shocking death of Michael Jackson, tonight they will rebroadcast the season 8 episode, in which the contestants performed songs by the King of Pop.

The repeat episode was announced at the end of last Thursday night’s So You Think You Can Dance by judge Cat Deeley.

The episode that is being re-aired was the Top-13 episode that originally aired in March.

This show contained outstanding performances of some of Jackson’s biggest hits including the memorable Adam Lambert rendition of “Black or White,” and the Danny Gokey version of “PYT,” among many others.

This very special American Idol will air tonight at 8PM ET/PT on the Fox network.

It should have been some of the best MJ songs that have been done over the years on Idol…….but I understand, AI has to promote their Top 10 tour.
BUT some of the contestants singing MJ may actually put off ppl buying tour tickets.

This was the first time I had seen all 13 AI contestants. I came to Idol late in the game and only went back and caught up on Allison and Adam. Sorry, but I thought the songs chosen were ridiculous, and most of them were done poorly. Lil did a great job, though. Kris, I am sorry to say, sounded horrible. He’s come a long way since then.
