Big Brother 11: Information, New Features & Changes

Big Brother is my #1 FAVORITE reality show.  For those that haven’t gtten into it before, please give it a try this year.  It is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week show that really feeds our reality show addictions.  Big Brother is ALWAYS ON.  There is always action.  Anyways, here’s some info:

RealPlayer has made some really interesting changes to the live feeds…

One new feature is going to be called “Flashback” or “Time Machine.” Let’s say you’re at work and come home to find that some major drama went down while you were gone. Rather than scouring YouTube for hours in search of clips, all you have to do is select a time/date and this feature will allow you to watch back what you missed. Very convenient. (JoesPlace says “Best idea EVAH!  Since BB won’t allow youtubes to be taken anymore, this will really help when the action happens at 3:00 AM”)

Also, the presentation of cameras has been changed. Rather than having buttons marked 1, 2, 3 and 4 for each of the different cameras, RealPlayer will feature a thumbnail sized video of what’s actually streaming on each feed in place of the buttons, allowing viewers to see what’s happening in each room before deciding which camera to watch. This new feature is essentially a new and improved version of the Quad Cam. The Quad Cam is still available for anyone who prefers it, but as usual, the audio from all four feeds will bleed together, making it difficult to listen.

RealPlayer will also be featuring videos of the most important moments of the season to make sure we don’t miss anything. These videos will be available at all times and new videos will be posted with each new game development.

More changes are likely to be revealed soon…

Kenny at Jokers Updates wrote up a summary of the latest Robin Kass interview:

The promo department has absolutely nothing to do with the casting process. Just because the promo advertises “Bigger Secrets,” it doesn’t mean she’s casting people who have something to hide. Robyn says that the BB9 promos had a line advertising “Dirty Little Secrets” and the conspiracy theorists went crazy trying to figure out if it had something to do with the twist or the cast, and it didn’t. Robyn says: “The promo department has absolutely nothing to do with the casting of Big Brother or the show. They’re doing that on their own. They have their own promos, their own people. They know nothing about any possible twist, nothing about the cast, nothing about the house.”

- Robyn says that she doesn’t think this season will be any shorter than the other seasons. “No, I don’t think so. I’m probably not the one to ask, but I would tell fans not to read into it. As far as I know, it’s just another season, maybe a couple days less. Maybe a week less. Big Brother fans are the best fans in the world, hands down. They love to read into things.” It is mentioned that Big Brother usually ends about a week before Survivor, so we might know more about the length of BB11 when the premiere date for Survivor is revealed.

- Robyn says that she had alot of great people in the finals this year, some of her favorite personalities ever. “I love that the people who come in to interview know the show and know the game. There’s a lot of diehard fans who come out, and it always makes it interesting. I love to hear about people’s strategies going in, and this process is really exciting for me. It’s like puzzle where we’re thinking, ‘These people will get along, and these people WON’T get along.’ None of those predictions usually work out though. I don’t know what happens in that house, but we have some really interesting people this year.”

- Robyn has toured the new house. It’s not completely finished, but she says it looks “really cool.”

I can’t wait, I can’t wait, I can’t wait! Will Showtime have BB After Dark again? I’ll have to call my cable company to get my subscription renewed for the summer if that’s the case! I’m ready to sit back and get BB started!

It’s the only time I order Showtime Beth! That, plus the feeds are my entire summer.

I really hope people will give it a try. Just watching the show does not do BB justice.

I LOVE BB, yay!!! So glad to hear you like it too, Joe – it’s my summer addiction. I don’t get the feeds but check out Jokers and others obsessively, reading transcripts and catching up. Most of the best BB action happens when I’m sleeping anyway, lol. But I’m pretty bummed that there will be no youtubes – they really added alot for me to the last couple of seasons – boo.

I just lurk – can’t even remember who I’m registered as – but maybe I will come out if I see a familiar ‘face’. I love BB so much – my favorite all-time players are of course Janelle!!!, Dr. Will, and Evil Dick. Hope they get some great characters in there this year; Less than a month now – I can hardly wait.
