I wonder if Kris is rethinking letting Adam go first. I think that “kara” song was sappy …I wonder what Kris is going to do with it? Not sure it is a good song for either of them

Well. I am sorry..wht kind of grand finale was that ???
The song choices !!! WTF ??
What happened to a song by Queen or anything close to being a rock song for Adam….A change is going to come ??? Are you kidding me ??? He sang it well, of course he did..but was it entertaining like Adam can be ??? uhhhh..no !!
Were they scared to scare off some of the voters that may be on the fence ? OMG..please tell me what that show was all about ??
Can anybody explain why I feel a bit empty right now ???

  4. emme wrote on 19. May 2009

Okay…so the winner actually has to record that song? Poor Kris. What a crap song. I actually feel sorry for both of them. Even Adam had trouble. It really makes you appreciate well written lyrics.

  5. Diana wrote on 19. May 2009

It hasn’t aired here yet, but I have had misgivings ever since I heard what the plan was for this week. Why can’t these singers be allowed to choose what they want and go out there and shine without interference? Another reason I quit watching this show from Fantasia till now.

  6. spenni wrote on 19. May 2009

Hmmmm….Not sure how to sum that up. I felt like they both did very good on their first song…I didn’t care for either of the Simon Fuller choices, although I though that both showed their strengths…and I felt really bad for both of them on Kara’s song. Adam just didn’t seem comfortable and fought the song throughout. Kris did it in a key that was too high. None of the judges wanted to judge the final song which was good for both of them. Arrrgh!

  7. Cat wrote on 19. May 2009

Wow, that last song was not a good way to end it for either of them. That really sucks for them. I loved the comment about them not competing against each other. Adam was so gracious to thank Kara for giving him a beautiful song when it clearly wasn’t his type of song or Kris’. Can’t wait to see these guys let go and have fun tomorrow. You did put on a great show guys all year! Congrats to both!

  8. Monykalyn wrote on 19. May 2009

So much for the contestants getting to choose songs that hilite who they are-agree that the last song was awful (as it has been for most seasons-when will the producers ever learn?!!). BUT Adam sang my favorite song from all season long, it was a combo of the previous AI version and the full length studio version. My (3year old) son did love Adams second song though LOL

    The bad:
coronation song – well to be honest it is no better and no worse than past coronation songs.
Paula’s orange tan – I think she overdosed on DWTS spray tan booth.
    No a capella – very sad :-(
No Adam showing us his big bad rocker self.

    On to the performances:
Adam and Mad World – He switched it up a bit, made it a bit more haunting and sad than the original. LOVED the whole stage setup with the fog and he has never looked more fabulous than with that coat.
Kris and Ain’t No Sunshine – was very good as well, but he didn’t switch it up a whole lot from his first performance. And I am royally sick of his jeans and tshirt look. This was the AI finale and his wife was more dressed up than he was.
My winner Adam. Yes dramatic, but he treated this like the AI finale. I appreciate someone who does that.

    Second performances
Adam and Change is Gonna Come – I’ll admit. I was worried when I first saw this spoiler. I thought this would sound dated and old. Adam made it sound current and classic. I’m not sure if I would call it his best performance of the season, but it ranks up there. Pretty damn magnificent.
Kris and What’s Goin On – I’m irritated. I so dearly love this song, and thought Kris would win this round easily. And instead I find myself agreeing with Simon and thinking it sounded like a couple guys jamming in their bedroom. Winner – Adam (and not even close)

Third performance – aka crapola coronation
Neither was great. Both had some off notes (that might be the first time I’ve ever heard an off note from Adam). But Kris sounded flat in the beginning and was stretching for the big notes later. At least Kris didn’t have a “Scream On Danny Gokey moment”, but I was worried it may go there.
Winner – Adam. Though nothing to be thrilled about.

Voting hint – I’m having better luck getting through the second phone line. Obviously I’m powervoting for Adam, but it might work the same for Kris.

I scored it 2 for Adam and 1 for Chris. The ones that Adam one however were by a wide margin. I dont think the Kara song fit either of these two, Adam was OK with it, but Kris really botched the song. Kept thinking this was a Danny Gokey style song !

  18. Judy wrote on 19. May 2009

The information at dialidol . com has been very accurate. I followed it for the last couple of rounds of elimination. It showed Danny Gokey as the lowest man on the totem pole on the night he was eliminated – so it was right. Currently dialidol . com shows Adam is still running behind and from the way I interpret their numbers I think it reflects about 1.5 million votes behind – but it definitely shows Adam behind. This does not make me happy. not at all. I just hope it changes and Adam catches up.

cool…btw, I’m 100% Allison fan and not voting, and if I had to give anyone a slight edge it might have been Kris so I not sure how obvious it was, but the last song by both took away from the show big time. They need to ditch that song written for contestant stuff.

  28. wayne wrote on 19. May 2009

Adam vs. Chris – Chris gets to the passion of the song very slowly and smoothly. Adam’s passion is like a slap in the face, it hits hard, in other words, it’s forced. Chris involves the audience. Adam involves Adam. He’s a very singular performer. He reeks of egotism. The fog, the stairs, the long coat. It was a very calculated performance. Kris is natural. Kris should win. He’s a pure artist. Adam is Glitz and Glitter. Yuck!

  29. bridgeymah wrote on 19. May 2009

Ok stuck down here in Oz and unable to vote so please vote for Adam for me a few times.

Even though I have skype they have those numbers blocked to international calling from it.

The sparkly sea creature from outer space deserves to be the winner. Just can’t contemplate mraz lite as the next Idol – does not compute!

  30. Judy wrote on 19. May 2009

Only the West Coast can save Adam now. After 2 hours of voting he has been consistenly behind. The way I interpret the dialidol numbers I think it’s saying he’s about 2 million votes behind. He has never pulled ahead in the first 2 hours. Adam fans need to know this. They have a battle on their hands.

  32. Dee wrote on 19. May 2009

Hate to say it, but I feel SORRY for the winner. They have to release that crap song as their single. I wonder what other suckage they will be contractually obligated to regurgitate on that first album?

I’m sorry, but for God’s sake, can we not let the guys choose their own songs? At least if they die, it’s by their own hand!

Does anyone know how to do this? this is where Kris is getting his votes.

  34. wizkid wrote on 19. May 2009

Just got back from the performance. Voting like mad now.
*Adams Mad World was mesmerizing. The ENITRE audience was in a silent hush during this number. Simon was off his rocker on the coat/fog comment… etc. it was spectacular.
*Adams Change is Gonna Come was absolutely the most stunning vocal of the season. Way better live. Huge group of about 40 Radio DJ’s behind us were making scads of positive comments about how fabulous this was. (Though most of the time they seemed to try to appear as non partial as possible. One said he loved Danny). Simon seemed to hold back the praise here.
*Kara’s song was a real downer. Adam did OK on this (few blips), but Kris literally butchered it with many many off notes. The radio heads said “Kris did terrible on this, just an example of his inability to be professional”.
*Kris had a large noisy (kiddie) fan base that showed more live than on TV. Some small yellow KRIS signs were everywhere, that were eerily similar to the yellow Idol signs from the auditions. Someone commented as to where they might have come from?
*Kris’s first number was very nice, but nowhere near as good as the pandering that that judges gave it. Adam was clearly better. (I think they did this to cover their butts just in case he wins).

but the reason i definitely chose Adam Lambert as the next American Idol is just because he is a superstar, he made the show his own, and because of him, many people continue watching the show even though there are many freaky stuff on the show…

Yeah Kris is better last night, but Adam is better on the whole season of AMerican idol

don’t forget to vote for Adam, he deserves the title!!

  38. bridgeymah wrote on 20. May 2009

A couple of comments from TWoP people who where there…

“I went to the live taping of the finale show today, and all I have to say is that Adam’s voice is beautiful live. I literally sat there and stared with my mouth wide open. That boy can do no wrong. I have seen a lot of concerts, but I don’t think I’ve heard a voice like that in a long time.

MW was beautiful. It was perfect, down to that last note. And his long jacket? HOT HOT HOT. My only problem with it was that I’ve watched the old performance so many times that I feel like I know MW backwards & forwards. ACIGC was FUCKING AMAZING. I almost died. NB was good, but not great, but I credit that to the song’s cheese factor and not his vocals (although in the theater, it sounded like the backup singers were going to take over for a couple seconds – JUST SAY NO). People started standing up even before the song ended, whereas they got up only afterwards when Kris sang it.”

    and

“All I wanted to add is that when Adam sings live, you kind of get into this WTF?! mode when you hear the clarity of his voice. Like, is this really happening? And why am I so entranced? Honestly, I remember few details about how the crowd reacted, what the stage looked like…he has this uncanny way of making you think that he’s the only other person in the room, and then by the end of the song, you’re like THAT’S IT? Why can you not do this forever?”

So sounds like people going to the concerts are in for a TREAT.

The Unicorn Prince will be an international superstar. The Human Hood ornament will make nice records for middle america. The rest is just window dressing.

I won’t be doing a recap this week. They both bought what they could to the stage. Let the chips fall where they will. Nuff said!

  39. enigmatica wrote on 20. May 2009

I quite enjoyed “Ain’t No Sunshine,” but felt sorry for Kris the rest of the night. Listening to him, and now, watching in higher def on tv, it’s clear he sings from his throat. That’s crappy and dangerous vocal technique. It quickly wears your voice down, robs it of its full potential of depth and rich texture, and makes it much harder to stay in pitch, much less control your breath or vibrato. (Notice how he got progressively pitchier and his his voice was less controlled/ more shouted with each performance?)

If he doesn’t get lessons soon, he’ll kill his voice quite quickly with all the touring ahead. I can’t believe none of the vocal coaches on AI have mentioned this to him, or given him help refining his technique in all these weeks. He needs to learn to use that diaphragm, and let the sound resonate through his throat, not push the sound from his throat.

  40. enigmatica wrote on 20. May 2009

As much as I realized Kris is not vocally ready for the constant touring, I almost hope he wins.

I never ever ever ever again want to hear Adam have to suffer through that abomination that Kara wrote. E.V.E.R. If he wins, I might mute the tv during the confetti shower and listen to ACIGC. Other than him being stuck with the worst song to hit the airwaves (because, steaming pile of shit that it is, it’ll still get spins), I’m praying for him to be doused in confetti, and have time on tour to help Kris learn how to really use his voice.

  41. bridgeymah wrote on 20. May 2009

Eni – think of it this way – if he can sing that pile of crap with conviction just think what he will do with the great material songwriters are lining up to have him sing – not to mention his own songs!

I want confetti for him because he wants it – and who am I to argue with a man who likes long coats, false eyelashes and fabulous jewelled lapels.

  42. JazzRocks wrote on 20. May 2009

I feel really down now. And not just because I got so little sleep. Voted 4 hours and got through about 1 in 30 tries. Very frustrating. And then to see Dial Idol has Kris winning, well wtf?

I loved Kris’s Ain’t No Sunshine, but the rest of the show was Adam’s by a mile. And he never looked hotter! And I agree with everyone – the Corn song sucked big time!

  43. Holly wrote on 20. May 2009

I’m hearing that no one got confirmation texts back that you usually get when you vote. Did anyone here who texted in votes have that problem? I did.

I also only got through once for Kris in 2 hours. The first couple times I called all of Kris’s 3 phones lines, I got the message that the phone number was either not a working number or not in service.

I’m not trying to call out Idol shenanigans, but it seems kind of odd to me. Did anyone who voted for Adam have that problem?

  44. Fran wrote on 20. May 2009

Well my computer video worked so i’ve actually ’seen’ all the performances.
Round 1 i was stuck to choose between the two. Loved both of them, but Adam won by a hair (or by a coat!)
Round 2 i prefered Adam a lot. I just didn’t like Kris’s song that much
And the less said about that steaming turd that Kara wrote the better!!

I think Kris will edge it tonight on votes, but Adam has been my winner all season long! How long is the final tonight? Just wondering as it may not actually be done by the time i get up to go to work tommorrow!!! (5 hour time difference means it usually finishes here around 3am!)

  45. bridgeymah wrote on 20. May 2009

I am so very very sick and tired of people looking at Dial Idol and saying X is in front – SO NOT. 1. Is only for people who use the software; 2. Has a ginormous margin of error meaning current numbers are a statistical dead heat; 3. The raw numbers have Adam ahead depending on what numbers you “choose” to look at.

SO – I think technically is a close close race and I think that “A change is gonna come” and once again, America choose progress over middle of the road, more of the same.
