With only five contestants left on American Idol, it’s hard to say who’s going home. But it’s probably not Adam Lambert or Danny Gokey.
I think it could be any of the remaining three — Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta and Matt Giraud. And I’m really torn over who it should be. Matt’s been one of my favorites from the beginning. He has a great radio voice. I would totally listen. But Kris is adorable and he can really sing. Finally, Allison has come a long way. With the right mentoring, she could be a star.
So, I think Matt’s going home. But I hope it’s Kris.
BTW, I think Jamie Foxx might be my favorite guest mentor so far. And he’s going to be performing tonight. Woohoo!
More than 47 million votes cast Tuesday night. Number is getting higher and higher each week. Simon just said everyone was good Tuesday night. “This is the most open competition right now,” he said.
Here we go. Ryan’s starting with the results.
Matt Giraud’s standing at the right side of the stage. Danny Gokey’s going to the left side of the stage. Allison Iraheta’s moving next to Danny. Kris Allen’s moving next to Matt. That leaves us with Adam Lambert. He had to pick a group. He joined Allison and Danny. Then Ryan moved him next to Matt and Kris.
Adam, Matt and Kris are the bottom three.
So I guess I was way off the mark with my predictions. I’m shocked that Adam’s in the bottom three. I did say last night, though, that I thought Danny was emerging as the front-runner. And here he is, safe, with Adam in the bottom three. Wow!
One person’s going back to safety — Kris! No way. What’s going on? This is not possible. Adam is in the bottom two. Shocking. This is really unbelievable. Everyone I know has been picking Adam to win it. Now he’s in the bottom two. How is that possible?
Adam is safe. Thank goodness. I just don’t know what I would have done if he’d been sent home this week.
I feel bad for Matt. But it was inevitable. He was lucky to get the save a couple of weeks ago. He’s had a good run and should have a good career.
More importantly, what do you think about this week’s results? Are you as shocked as I am that Adam was in the bottom two?

BTW, check out “What Not to Sing’s” analysis of what probably happened with the results last week (and why Adam WAS actually in the B3). Basically, Adam fans voting for Allison to save her and make sure Matt left, lost a huge number of votes for Adam. This is what people on every board speculate happened, but WNTS has been doing in depth “Idolmetrics” studies for several years, so I think it may be accurate.
More proof that we have to power-vote for Adam and never throw even a few votes somebody else’s way!!!
Agree with Elliott and others. Basically, what they announce as ‘bottom three’ or ‘bottom two’ doesn’t mean they got the lowest votes – it could mean ‘producers’ bottom 3′ or ‘bottom 2′. AND if you watch carefully, they balance this out to cover themselves by having Seacrest say BEFORE he moves Adam away from Gokey and Allison – ‘Adam, Danny and Allison NOT your bottom three’ (so Adam isn’t in the bottom three according to that statement)- so mixing the messages up so they’re covered if things were to come to light.
