One of our regular Posters, Marcy, has a friend who works for American Idol. Her friend gave her this list of songs…
Thank you to MARCY for the rumored list …..
And to Doug for bringing the list forward…:)
RUMORED SONG LIST!!
Here’s what Marcy had to say…
” I have a friend who works for the show and somehow I finally got some info about song choices for this week. I’m not sure if these are finalized, or if my friend is just messing with me, or what. But I thought you guys might be interested in them anyway. I don’t know the performance order. Just got the song choices. So here’s what I got.”
Kris – Heaven
Lil – Let’s Hear It For the Boy
Adam – Edge of Seventeen
Scott – You’re the Inspiration
Anoop – Who’s Johnny
Matt – Part Time Lover
Allison – Tears in Heaven
Danny – Crazy Little Thing Called Love

When I talk about fearless I am just quoting Adam. At the beginning of his audition clip he says the he wants to come on each week and “fearlessly put on a show…” for my money mission accomplished. And no matter what he chooses to sing this week I don’t see that “fearless” quality changing. Guy has confidence in what he can do (and some to spare) so I trust that and am just thrilled to be along for the ride.
Watch BoW and tell me that Adam isn’t fearless. As much as I’ve loved other artists (including David Cook, whom I *love*, Daoghtry, Blake, Melinda and Michael Johns), NO ONE has ever kept me on the edge of my seat. I look forward to his performance all week long. BoW is the song that first converted me, and I haven’t looked back.
Had anybody expected “Tracks of My Tears” from Adam… especially after “Ring of “Fire”? I know I didn’t. And it blew everyone away.
After “Funky”, maybe he’ll choose to tone it down again or do something else. 1982 has GREAT songs, the best of the bunch IMO.
Not the Jonas Brothers Sue , If thats what you were thinking?
As many have shown before you can take just about any song and slow it down with an unplugged treatment. So not beyond realm of possibility that Adam will do that again the way he did with ToMT. His upright performances show he’s comfortable with that style as he is going “big”… Well in under 24 hours we will all be disecting the choices he did make as opposed to the ones we think he should. … The suspense of it all. Love it.
Is Idol on live in Australia Bridgey?
So…. ”Scott takes a well known up-tempo rock song and totally strips it back, does it slow highlighting the vocals and just does it on the piano–no other instruments or backups. He said it reminded everyone of when Bo did “In a Dream” and Scott will stick around after this one”
Oh pleezzzz. What’s new about this? “He totally strips it back”. That’s all he does? How original, he must have watched Adam. And no back ups? WOW OW! Still doesn’t change that he cant sing. I die each time he does those awkward transitions. And if he sticks around after this I will just throw up.
OK..dont take this wrong, but whoever votes for him must be deaf.
Doug – we do get it on delayed, so it airs about 8 hours after show there.
I really hope these aren’t true. Except for “Edge of Seventeen,” the songs are really boring ones. I know they can do better!
Just for sport – BuddyTV has Under Pressure as the prediction for Adam, with Delirious by Prince as their personal choice… Actually a pretty entertaining list that has had its share of hits and misses. Is just their opinion not really based on any insider info, but they did pick correctly for Adam with Motown week (Tracks of My Tears).

Isn’t this Marcy the same chick that predicted that Alexis Grace would be in the top 3?
It just shows you that Adam is the most interesting contestant this year as most of the posts above are about him!!!
I’m looking forward tonight, i’ll be live casting from the UK (if i don’t fall asleep before it ends).
Does anyone know if there going to be firm song spoilers from the rehearsals this afternoon?
I’m still thinking this list is not real. And I read that someone in a prior year has performed a previous group song as a solo. Therefore, I’m still holding on to my wish of ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ for Adam. Think about it, he only got to sing two notes at the end, they didn’t even let him sing a single word. Maybe it’ll happen. We can hope!
This is amazing – almost every one of these posts is about Adam and what he is going to sing. Hardly anyone cares what anyone else is singing. Adam is the most unpredictable and exciting performer to be on Idol in years!
That being said – I want to see vocal prowess here from Adam! I know he has to “build” up to the finale with his song choices, but there are so many wonderful vocal performances on youtube from him that I can’t believe he only wants to WAIL and ROCK.
I listened to Edge17, and it just doesn’t sound like what he would pick – not even vocal variation and range in it. But – who knows? Only a few hours left to speculate!!!
Who knew Idol would be this fun this year??
I agree with Janice; I don’t remember a year where each week’s selection has been so highly discussed and debated. VH-1 got in on the act. Go here:
http://www.vh1.com/artists/news/1608686/20090406/index.jhtml?rsspartner=rssYahooNewscrawler
I totally disagree with pretty much everything they say. What do you think? And I would love to see Adam, if not doing Journey (c’mon, Adam!), wear a skinny tie, skinny pants, and black jacket (ala every new wave artist from the 80s, from INXS to Joe Jackson and Elvis Costello to A-Ha). So 80s.
I want Adam to go up and down again, vocally, and show every bit of his range in his song selection. He doesn’t have to wail (or whatever); we already know he can do that. A nuanced song would have the judges standing up and cheering, I guarantee you (except Simon, heh heh).
Wow! I wouldn’t have thought Idol was up VH1′s street, but there you go. I think i must be the only one posting here that really doesn’t know Journey. (Hearing DSB on the results show was the first time i had ever heard that song!), but the range seems nice for Adam. I’d prefer if he stuck to something a bit lower in tone this week, more in the lines of Is Anybody Listening, as he does have a really nice lower register and it may help to connect with the audience.
I think this year is probably the most open competition that there has been since i started watching the show. IMO there are 5 people who could be in the bottom 3 on wednesday and 4 or 5 who could end up finishing in the top 3.
I hope this is what adam is doing. It would be as awful as…
And it burns burns buuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrns, the Ring of Fire
TV Guide has their power listings; their top 2 is Kris, with Adam as #1, holding a 10 percent lead. It’s not exactly what I expected (Allison at #6? Nooo!), but I totally agree with Adam and Kris at the top.
I want LOW REGISTER for Adam this week, too, or building to high. But he didn’t do this last week, and since he keeps switching it up, I hope he shows all of his range this week, because ToMT was mostly falsetto and last week was BIG, but there hasn’t really been an Is Anybody Listening week, and I think it’s time. The good news is that the contestants had all week to prepare, and probably knew or sensed this week was coming, so have probably been thinking about/researching their choices for a while. This should be a lot stronger than last week, IMO.
Been reading Adam Lambert’s folder/thread at the American Idol Forum. Many of them who posted said that the rumor of him singing Edge of Seventeen can not possibly be true, since the mods have not deleted the thread. Apparently, if the spoiler is true, the thread gets deleted promptly.
just wanna point out that people who just watch the show and aren’t manipulated by the producers (like ya’ll) hate Adam and think he’s awful, but those people don’t vote 10000 times cause they actually have things to do, but I can’t wait to come to this board when Adam takes his 3rd or 4th place finish
Adam’s Shakespearean Fatal Flaw is that he picks music HE likes and not what he thinks we will like. “Edge of Seventeen” sounds just like the sort of thing Adam would personally like. It’s raw, edgy, etc, all the things the “new” Adam wants to be.
Unfortunately, that isn’t what he needs to do to win AI. He needs to listen to the fans.
What has been his #1 performance this year according to most reviews? TOMT, obviously. Why? Because it showed the beauty of hs voice. THAT’S what America wants.
IMHO, if Adam performs “Edge of Seventeen”, even if he does it well, it is a slap in the face to his fans and foolish (assuming he actually want to win this thing).
Overrated,
Yes, so much Adam hate out there. That’s why 90% of AI articles written are about Adam, why he has twice as many blog posts on AI’s site as anyone else and why the bookies all have him as the winner.
If only I could be hated so by my clients, I’d be able to retire by Christmas.
Bill, LOL, but no, no, no posts to O. Please. Gets him/her revved up. And I still prefer to WoF and BoW to ToMT. They seem more sincere. JMHO. Acronyms, much?
Adam has slipped to #3 on Ken Barnes’s Idol Watchers chart, after Kris and Danny. Well, it still seems to be a three-way race at this point…
Magazines like Adam cause he is flashy, exciting, and different. While Adam does have a good voice; it isn’t current and he’s going to ruin it with that disgustingly annoying screaching he does. I have only found one just normal person that doesn’t read boards or magazines and just watches the show that likes Adam. Hopefully Adam fails and doesn’t win, but if he does whatever by his 2nd album he’ll be faded to broadway.

I am also hoping that thi list is fake, and I wold love for ADam to sing either one of these songs!
Why all the Adam bashing? You don’t like the guy; we get it. Instead of tearing him apart why don’t you just say positive things about the singer you do like? And I know plenty of people who love Adam and don’t get on-line or read articles about him. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I just don’t understand what you get from being so relentlessly negative.
I don’t think Eo17 would be a slap. It’s a rock song, although not the best singer’s song to choose. But I won’t be offended if he chooses it. There’s plenty of time for another ballad. I hope he doesn’t get too ballady, it’s not the album I want to hear from him.
Depending on what he does tonight, I expect the judges to eventually ask ‘what kind of artist are you?’
Here is Michael Slezak’s list. THIS is interesting, and Slezak knows of what he speaks:
It’s the magical and mysterious “Songs from the Year You Were Born” Week on American Idol, which means we’ll get plenty of ’80s music, and a terrifying reminder that one of the remaining contenders was born after I graduated from high school. (Gulp.) Anyhow, after a little bit of Internet research, here are my song suggestions for the top 8 of season 8. Ch-ch-check ‘em out…
- Danny Gokey (1980): Pete Townshend’s “Let My Love Open the Door” or Dionne Warwick’s “Déjà Vu”
- Adam Lambert (1982): Quarterflash’s “Harden My Heart” or The Motels’ “Only the Lonely”
- Lil Rounds (1984): Madonna’s “Borderline” (the 2006 Jody Watley rendition) or Tracey Ullman’s “They Don’t Know” [Note: Please, please, please…no "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)"!]
- Kris Allen (1985): Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire” or Power Station’s “Some Like It Hot”
- Matt Giraud (1985): Madonna’s “Angel” or The Honeydrippers’ “Sea of Love”
- Scott MacIntyre (1985): ABC’s “Be Near Me” or Survivor’s “I Can’t Hold Back”
- Anoop Desai (1986): Nu Shooz’s “I Can’t Wait” or Lisa Lisa’s “All Cried Out”
- Allison Iraheta (1992): Shakespeare’s Sister’s “Stay” or Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Under the Bridge”
JP, is there any way we can stop the venom from you know who (hint: moniker starts with an O)?
i like ‘stay’ for allison although i dont how popular the song actually is. the ew guess list is actually better than the supposed spoilers
“just wanna point out that people who just watch the show and aren’t manipulated by the producers (like ya’ll) hate Adam and think he’s awful, but those people don’t vote 10000 times cause they actually have things to do, but I can’t wait to come to this board when Adam takes his 3rd or 4th place finish”
Hey, Overrated….How about posting just one postitive thing a day, instead of trying to goat the other posters into fights. I am getting quite sick of all of the negativity you bring to this board. There are may other forums that thrive on negativity. got it?
*applauding JP*
lol. I usually think that attacking the contestants is fine – attacking the other posters is not, but my goodness, enough is enough.
Joe,
He is a republican that voted for Obama so we have already put him in the “C.linically I.nsane and U.niformed” category.
LMAO…My husband ALMOST did that as well Bill, but he realized that if he did, I would have given him crap for the next 4 years…
Overrated:
“I have only found one just normal person that doesn’t read boards or magazines and just watches the show that likes Adam.”
Wow. You must have copious amounts of time on your hands! You’ve found time to survey ALL the people whose calls have totaled >20 million votes and locate the ONLY one who “just watches” AI and likes Adam!
I tip to you the many hats I wear as I run out the door to work a 10-hour day before coming home to make dinner, supervise homework, do laundry…
Is it just me or does anyone else think that user “overrated” is Gokey’s dad (is he still alive?)
Usually, when ONE person takes over a board and lots of posts end up being about HIM/HER, the mod puts on a pair of pointy boots and kicks thusly.
Just another thing for Danny Gokey to do to be compared to Taylor Hicks. o.o I hope he goes home. ^_^
I would like to define a normal person who likes Adam.
normal: noun: anyone who is *not* Overrated.
Wow, that was easy.
You haven’t seen me before on the board. I’m new. With that, my input on the song choices.
After some painful research (and I do mean painful – Chicago gives me headache), here’s my input.
Kris Allen
Heaven
Still as sappy as I remember. I would prefer “Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman” (sounds more “adult), but I don’t know if that was released in Kris’s birth year. But this seems like a safe song choice for Kris.
Lil Rounds
Let’s Hear It For the Boy
Bad song choice. Needs some major remixing, and I haven’t heard Lil do that yet this season. This could very well get her in the bottom 2.
Adam Lambert
Edge of Seventeen
There are so many ways he could go with this song. I’m hoping it will focus on his lower register with some soaring falsetto. This could be his “Billie Jean” moment of the season.
Scott MacIntyre
You’re the Inspiration
I’m not a Chicago fan, so this was painful for me to listen to. But because I couldn’t stand Peter Cetera’s voice. Scott’s voice isn’t as good as the other Idols, but it doesn’t have that whiney undertone like Cetera either. Scott could do well with this.
Anoop Desai
Who’s Johnny
Oh boy. Bad song choice. I see no way Anoop can work this into a good song choice. Hope Anoop goes with something else.
Matt Giraud
Part Time Lover
Dated music, dated lyrics. Hope this pick is wrong.
Allison Iraheta
Tears in Heaven
Good song choice. She has to do it extremely simple though.
Danny Gokey
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Fun song. Could be good. Queen would seem right up Adam’s alley, but this son in particular was in Freddy’s lower register so Danny could do quite well with it.
Morning!
just a reminder not to feed the wild life. I only encourages them to come closer than you would like
Thanks for the Vh1 link Sue! And Overrated please listen to Jill Scott’s song ‘Hate on me Hater’–it’s all about you.
Ooooooooooo! The Gokey spoiler was wrong!
I’m now on the edge of my (17) seat!!!
WHAT WAS THE NAME OF THAT SONG THAT ADAM DID TONIGHT??
