| In the home stretch, we finally got a real “American Idol” shocker. In Wednesday’s elimination show, Adam Lambert, the theatrical singer who had seemed to be a front-runner for the “Idol” crown, was in the bottom two.
How very interesting. The night after Fox fended off a strong showing from CBS in the overall ratings numbers (Fox had 16.1 million total live viewers, according to TV by the Numbers, compared to CBS’ 15.1 million), this season of “Idol” became a horse-race, not merely the coronation of a front-runner. Finally, there’s some real drama on that “Idol” stage. And for Fox, it couldn’t have come at a better time. Will the Adam situation halt the decline in “Idol’s” live ratings? Who knows. At least the drama made the crowning of the Final Four more interesting, though we saw that the judges’ save wasn’t much of a save at all, as Matt Giraud went home. Now, I’ve got no massive love for Adam. I think he can sing and he’s entertaining, but the fact is, I don’t really have any particular favorite this season. I’ve been pretty vocal, in fact, about having been fairly bored with “Idol” this year. Still, it was shocking to see Adam in the bottom two. There are a couple of possible explanations: Adam’s fans thought he was safe, so they stopped calling for him. Or maybe his performance on Tuesday was just not that good. Perhaps Adam’s poor showing was due to some combination of those two factors? I certainly found his Tuesday performance predictable — Adam tends to do the same Broadway-style schtick every time. It’s strange how the judges seem to rip on contestants every year for sticking with the same formula week after week, but they can’t praise Adam enough, despite the fact that his performances are somewhat repetitive. Then again, the judges pro-Adam cheerleading has almost become a running joke this season. So do you think he’s going to win? I think Allison’s sure to go soon. Do you think it’ll be a Danny-Adam final, or a Kris-Adam final? Share your thoughts in the comment area |

Nice blog, I didn’t know there was a drop in viewers on Tuesday, that explains the HOAX last night.
As you said, with “drama” like that, they can get back the lost 15 millions viewers, and get them voting. Not to mention, NO ADAM they’d lose half their viewers permanently.
NO WAY could Adam have been in the bottom 2. The Adam fans I know voted like madpeople. Also, he is the King of ITunes AI downloads, as reported in the Chic. Suntimes Red Eye, so how can that translate to almost getting kicked off?
HOW WOULD WE EVER KNOW IF FOX WAS HONEST ABOUT ADAM’S RESULTS LAST NIGHT.
no offense….but his article was LAME!
We will never know if the production team is being honest about the reulst. Back when Daughtry got eliminated early, I remember that Coke posted a release that no matter how the voting turned out, there would be no way Daughtry would win and that they reserve the rights to do what they want for production value.
Yesterday on this board I predicted and gave reasons why Adam would be eliminated in the most stunning upset in Idol history. I was wrong, but awfully close, and got slammed pretty good on here for bringing up the mere possibility.
If you go back and look Adam had the lowest combined busy signal percentages on Dial Idol, while also out of 10 phones lines, his 2 were in the bottom 4.
A couple of after thoughts:
1) Kara and Randy’s dissing of Matt instead of saving Allison may have saved Adam.
2) There is a bit of illusion of the number of Interent fans and this blog of Adam fans that seems overwhelming. There are literally millions of voters (and new voters) who never chime in about their favorites on the Internet that aren’t as big as Adam fans as we think. His Dial Idol numbers have been good but not great all year. Compare that to someone like Taylor Hicks who was wayyyyyyy out in front all year on Dial Idol and truly seemed uncatchable. Also, there are people who are just now tuning in that vote based on the week, and previous results don’t mean that much. It was one of the best singing weeks in Idol history, and the judges confirmed that last night.
3) The perfect storm almost hit yesterday with fans of one unbeatable candidate relaxing and fans of Matt, Allison and Chris fighting for their survival.
4) Adam will be almost UNSTOPPABLE this week as his fans will be dialing like never before. He is still the favorite, and may have come as close to losing as he ever will.
5) Allison is surging in popularity. She is the one contestant NO ONE wants to face one on one in the final. I truly believe that all the former contestant’s fans are starting to flock to her more than any other candidate.
6) Once again, I said I would admit I was wrong if I missed on the prediction. But it was interesting.
Okay, Jackson…you were…almost…right.
DON’T DO THAT AGAIN! Please ?
It’s really, really bad for my health!
Jackson: I don’t have to eat my ADAM FTW sign b/c he wasn’t voted off!!!
That said, I think Adam was B3 (NOT 2, but who will ever know, and WTF with B3 at Top 5?!),
he needs to sing more,
his voters need to vote more (and will, and will no longer split votes, which I urged about 3 weeks ago, but who listens to me, LOL),
and FOX is gloating b/c most viewers didn’t leave till the MattHatt sang. (I felt badly for him, but he deserved to go. Big time. And he knew it.)
Adam goes #1 or 2 during Rock Week, and Gokey may finally end up in the B2 (fingers crossed). Allison will kick it, Kris is not a rocker, though his fans will vote like crazy, just like Adam’s, and Gokey fans may get complacent.
I disagree about Allison, however, though I think you’re pretty accurate otherwise. If Adam regains his momentum, he has the best chance of winning, or at least coming in Top 2. No one is downloading her songs. She has the tween vote, but so does Kris. Danny has his fans, and Adam’s fans are coming back in a big way. I still think it’s going to be an Adam/Danny finale. The judges nailed it last year (the Davids) and I think they will this year, too.
A couple thoughts on rock week:
1) Adam can win or lose this competition this week.
2) He needs to pick mainstream rock songs.
3) He needs to pick songs by great vocalists.
4) He needs to stay away from Mick Jagger songs. Mick is a great rocker, but no one would ever accuse him of being much a vocalist.
Also, Kris is likely to struggle this week. He just doesn’t have the pipes for rock.
Most of all, Adam needs to go for mainstream appeal and reach out beyond his traditional base. Face it, we would all vote for him if he stood there and sang nothing. He needs to get those votes of the people who really do vote for whoever was the best singer that week.
Adam needs to stop thinking in terms of “what he wants to sing” and more in terms of “what does America want to hear me sing?”
Sue: I was looking forward to you eating that sign, especially after the “blatant favoritism” comment you attached to my prediction. (: Even I confess, it was almost unbelievable watching it happen, as me and my son were almost going nuts during the show. Darn! I was ready to wear my Nastrodamas crown… I must admit there was a part of me that had a little morbid streak in me hoping to see the reaction of the Adam fans on the Idol boards if he got booted. I think it’s safe to say that all non-Adam fans (even on this blog) have been kinda made to feel that our candidate is not even in the same league with Adam and didn’t have a prayer of winning. At least for a moment, we had a shot. My favorite line is the title in one of the Allison boards…”We beat the Glamberts! We beat the Glamberts”. Goliath almost went down, we may not get another decent shot at it.
What ran opposite Idol on CBS?
Sue–Ryan said Adam was in the “bottom 2″ ??
Yeah, Jackson–my nerves cannot take that again–ROFL
Are you a Danny fan? If so, please stop reading now, as I will only piss you off more than I already have.
Thanks.
No, Ryan never said Adam was in the bottom 2, he just sent Kris to safety.
Alrighty then. I am only anti-Goaky. I am not anti-anyone else, nor have I ever been (I may not have liked a candidate, especially Megan, but I didn’t dislike her personally). I cannot stand Goaky–I find him smug, I don’t like his singing or dancing, his heart signs are irritating, his harp was ridiculous, and…well, is that enough?
I am happy to see Adam AND Allison or Kris in the finale. The one and only reason I want Goaky there is so Adam can nail him. However, since that may not be the case, I want Goaky gone. And if he is at least B2, he may fall down on his knees and pray to the high heavens. That would be sickening. Sorry, that’s just how I feel.
FYI, VTFW is leaning towards picking Allison for next week, b/c they think she can knock off Kris, who can knock off Goaky. They wouldn’t vote for Goaky in a million years (and I mean pretty much NONE OF THEM), too many of them like Adam (fine by me, but not for their hardcore posters), not many of them care one way or the other about Kris, and they do like Allison for various reasons (good voice, interesting attitude, which they associate with Megan Caw Caw, and being thrown under the bus by Simon nearly every week, even this week). I could care less about VFTW except that they have lost every contest this season (they are about to give up, ha ha). So I would rather not have my Idol be on their banner; it’s a sure sign of elimination.
Oh, and did you catch the last signs they showed before they did a final stage shot? One said ADAM, the other said LAMBERT. Coincidence? Not in a million years.
Flat Stanley says Adam FTW
Every Adam supporter needs to realize that Adam WAS BOTTOM 2. By trying to tell yourself that AI was pulling something funky only hurts ADAM. By Realizing that he was in the bottom 2 can only rally his supporters and help him..
Whether he was really in the bottom two or not that’s where the show wanted him. This was all set in motion on Tuesday night with the judges comments.
Simon came down hard on Kris and Allison. I thought at the time he was depimping them but now I see what he was really up to. They knew doing this would rally Kris and Allison’s fan bases and probably knew it would cost Adam votes because his fans vote split.
As Jackson pointed out Kara and Randy’s dissing of Matt may have saved Adam. It’s important to note that neither Simon or Paula dissed Matt at all. Paula rarely disses anyone but Simon praised Matt and said he was the best performance of the night up to that point even though the performance itself was not exactly great. That struck me as very odd right then.
Randy came down on Adam a little this week for the first time. Simon said a whole lot of nothing.
All in all it’s clear that this is the result the show wanted. Whether they actually got it or not is something we’ll never know but what is important is that they wanted it.
Sue–this is an exact quote from Ryan–he was asking Mr. Foxx–“Did Amrica get this right tonight? This is the bottom TWO here.”
I can definitely believe he was in the bottom two and if people don’t wake up quick he’ll be voted off.
There are four people left and of all four it’s very probable that Adam got the least number of votes. Adam is the one who needs your votes not Kris or Allison.
People have been saying Adam didn’t look sad but I think he looked like death warmed over. It’s clear he wants to win.
Interesting debate:
1) Do you believe voting results are 100% accurate? I do because I think they use a consulting firm to make sure their is no fraud. But if you ever saw “Quiz Show” or Arthur Andersen’s role in Enron, you never know if it could happen.
2) Do you believe the judges are pushing a hidden agenda? Without question in the Top 36 we saw the judges trying to manipulate the results (see Ricky Braddy, Felicia Barton, Mishavonna and Kristen McNamara). For some reason at this point of the competition, everyone but Simon seems to be trying to be earnest. Simon seems to be trying to manipulate the outcome. Paula is so smitten with any male contestant it’s beyond even discussing. This will be her last year?
3) Do you believe the producers are trying to sway the outcome? H*LL YES, how many times does Adam get to go last???? The pimping of the top 3 in the top 36…Adam’s lighting, etc……
Anyone agree or disagree?
Jackson: The difference is that Idol is classified as a REALITY SHOW and Not a Game Show. It gives the producers to do whatever they want. I do believe they screw with the bottom 3 however the person with the lowest votes does go home.
Reading this message board is like trying to talk religion to people of various religious persuasions. People are zealots, very few people treat this as entertainment and treat it more as life…me included sometimes.
The above article says, in essence, what I have been saying for awhile. For Adam zealots it is blasphemy. For others, like me, it makes sense.
I still think he wins going away but, as I have said before, there is a good chance that he is far from the most successful singer to come out of this year’s group and, in fact, I might not just be talking about the final 4. He may not be as successful as some of the contestants eliminated earlier.
I think his routine is becoming repetitive. I think he has a lot more in there than he is giving us (that near-last note and the couple after it was like a skater doing a quadruple jump and following it by three triples, something that is almost physically impossible). I think he is an amazing performer. He just needs to show off his excellent voice more and eliminate the glitz.
Rock and Roll night is his chance to break out of his mold. I hope he does it. There are a number of songs that will show off his voice. I would even like to see him cross over and do a female’s song as, for me, female rockers were the best singers, moreso than males. I think showcasing his voice would be easier that way.
p.s. If anyone is bored with this season then I don’t know what to tell them. The talent this year is unfreakinbelievable compared to previous years. Most nights recently a merely good performance that might have been good enough to win the competition in a few of the years is panned as substandard based on the perspective created by unbelievable performances from EVERY other contestant. I mean, Anoop, who has some singing ability, in the bottom 2 and eliminated in weeks where he gave great performances?!?! That shows me how good everyone is here and that is only the tip of the iceberg that tips off this as the best American Idol talent-wise, IMHO.

———DITTO–DITTO—-DITTO!!——-
Yes–I, too think it’s 100% on the UP and UP! I am old enough to have read and heard first hand all the game show scandals. No way would they “fix” it–their butts would be grass.
I duuno Joe–I think the rules and regs are more game show–as there is a prize at the end. But, I cannot find anything online defining that.
I think the odd looks on the judges during all of it was due to the potential blowing of that one save.
Jackson,
Kris’ name is spelled K-R-I-S. It’s disrespectful after all this time if you can’t even spell his name correctly….it’s like when Elliott Yamin had fans who could not spell his name right.
this show is so fixed now! there is not freakin’ way adam was in the bottom 2!
….no way!
It’s thinking like that that makes Adam a goner. he WAS IN THE BOTTOM 2. Double your voting.
Elliot (with 2 L’s), Jackson got Ricky Braddy, Felicia Barton, Mishavonna and Kristen McNamara correct. I would have spelled Braddy with one d, Felicia has always thrown me, Mis-a-whatever I would never come close and anything Irish I always blow. And–I repect them all–no reason not to..
Plus–sometimes ppl call me Glinda–that’s fine. I still answer and take no offense. She’s the good witch.
ABSOLUTELY. It’s the head in the sand mentality. People where crying conspaircy when Daughtry hit the bottom 2 during top 6 week. Same with Constantine. Both were gone within 2 weeks
I guess leading in I-tunes sales and radio play spins means he is not first! LOL This is the most ridiculous thing i have read in a while!
Couldn’t agree more with any post today.
REASONS ADAM IS NOT IN THE BOTTOM
*Idol doesn’t dare put Adam performances at the beginning of the show cuz they know people wont watch — they know he is the star.
*Danny should have performed last (never having the pimp spot), but knowing Adam coming down in that gorgeous show stopping white suit down those stairs would make Danny, or anyone look DULL.
* Idol is keenly aware this is a competition and need to remain appearing so.
* Adam has out Googled, out sold, outperformed, out done ratings, out done spins, beats out Carrie Underwood, is mentioned by Simon as potential for international stardum –Idol knows Adams potential worth $$$$$ to them
*Simons statements were so obviously off, and they never are (particularly about Matt), like he was setting up the bomb for the next day.
*Simon NEVER admits he is wrong…NEVER. Yet even at the opening he takes his words back and says “everybody was good”. He doesn’t believe that for a second. Then goes on to say he was wrong without a blink or sarcasm. Not in character…the beginning of a set up.
*Randy and Kara laughing and congratulating themselves for “being right” when Kara’s favorite Adam is at big risk.
* All of them laugh and joking with their “we’ve never ever seen anything like it, league of your own” guy is standing there. They already knew the outcome. Not one serious look. Even with Doughty & Melinda they had a concerned looks.
*Randy never once saying “These are our top two VOTE GETTERS, or bottom two VOTE GETTERS. No, just these are the bottom two, the one that has the lowest votes and the one that we are putting here tonight to stir things up.
* What a better way to light a fire under other contestants, if they think they have a change.
* RATINGS, RATINGS, RATINGS
*Media frenzy
*This is the American Idol show, not the “Adam Lambert Show” we need to set that straight and make people believe that again.
Joe just because people say that he wasnt in the bottom 2 or even bottom 3 doesn’t mean they didn’t vote! You are wrong it was a complete set up!
Adam — who you all know I love to pieces–and I voted my fingers off for–WAS IN THE BOTTOM 2. His fans did not vote enough for him. It is not fixed. He made it by the skin of those beautiful teeth!!
If you do not understand this and VOTE–and I do mean VOTE–he will be toast.
I actually agree with Doug. Going off Itunes is actually the best way to tell who is the most successful right now. However, in order for the most successful to win, his supporters actually need to do more that gush about him on a message board. They need to pick up the phone for 2 hours. Otherwise, it’s woulda, shoulda coulda,
If Adam gets voted off it will not be becauae the producers didnt want him to win. they do.
Nope, not wrong at all. He was in the bottom 2. period, end of story his fans were lazy, If it happens again, he is out.
Wiz, last night Adam WAS in the bottom. Every other week he was at the top. but this week he almost went home.
My centiments exactly. I want that big balland, clear notes, and no more wailing. Most dont understand the wail notes.
Joe what proof do you have that his fans were lazy?
Obviously we will never know the truth about the real vote totals from idol ,but what proof or evidence do you have to back this claim up?
Not so fast. The wording of the AI Contract does allow the producers leeway in deciding which votes should be counted and which votes should not.
The fact that a HIGHLY UNLIKELY bottom 2 appearance by Adam just happens to line up PERFECTLY with the Idol Producer’s desire for an excitement injection into the show is too convenient by half.
Think about this. There is NO METRIC out there that suggests a bottom 2 appearance by Adam (DialIdol, VoteForNumber1, Internet Buzz, American Idol Blog Volumes, iTunes Sales – nothing) and yet, there it is.
My experience in business has taught me this:
If there is an unexpected turn of events which is unsupported by all empirical evidence and highly benefits the party who has sole control over the information, that outcome is highly suspect. In other words, “if it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, it’s a duck”.
And really, if they did play games with the numbers, it was a “no harm, no foul” move since the lowest vote getter was voted off and Adam’s fans have been charged up. In other words, everyone wins. Idol gets buzz. Adam gets motivated fans. Matt was going home anyway.
I like Kris…..when you type 200 wpm with 100 errors a minute, you’re lucky I spelled the wrong name right. It’s not like I called him Krissy Pooh, that’s disrespectful. This ain’t the SATs.
So I will repost this again…to get out the vote.
This came from Adam Fansite
RECRUIT AN ARMY OF VOTERS
For the next few weeks your mission is to recruit an ARMY of Adam Lambert voters.
Family, friends, talk to people on the streets, comment on blogs, forums, MySpace, etc. I have added a ‘ShareThis’ at the bottom of EVERY page. If you find a video or article you like, send it on your e-mail, twitter, aim, facebook, myspace, etc. The ShareThis tool at the bottom of every page is EXTREMELY effective and easy to use plus it takes only a few seconds. If you don’t understand how to use ShareThis Comment below and we will help you.
Make sure your friends, family and relatives know about Adam and vote for him. If each one on this site recruited in average 100 votes we would get Adam 1,000,000 extra votes. It is time to move the masses. Keep Adam Lambert’s name in everybody mind so they remember when they pick up that phone.
Be sure to wear Adam Lambert’s t-shirts from now on until he wins. There are plenty of places offering Adam Lambert’s goodies or you can find some here: http://adam-lambert.org/lambert-merchandise/
T-Shirts and pins are a great way to get a conversation started with random people at school. I do it all the time. Even today at the DMV I was talking to people about it. I hope you can do the same.
Finally, make sure you do not split your votes. I was guilty of this and I was also rooting for Allison… not anymore.
We CANNOT stand another week with the shame of Adam being on the bottom three. This was a huge wake up call. Please show your support on the comments below, share this article with other fans and let’s make sure that man crosses the finish line because HE WANTS TO WIN!!
EVERY E-MAIL, EVERY TWEET, EVERY AIM, EVERY COMMENT AND POST ON MYSPACE/FACEBOOK, EVERY PERSON AND EVERY VOTE COUNTS.
ShareThis…tweet this.
And, I will add, tell people about how to use Dial Idol. Set your mom up on it. Use two phones at once!
I hear a loud Quacking sound!
Bill–you make Joe’s and my point exactly. All those indicators that he had it in the bag made the voters lazy.
Well, maybe lazy isn’t the right word but this week Danny, Allison and Kris’s fanbases increased with the elimination of Anoop and Lil. Lil and Anoops fans are not voting for Adam. Plus, I cannot tell you hoqw many times I read on message boards on Tues that Adam fans were going to be voting for “Allison cause Adam will be fine, but Allison could go home”. Come on. People thinking Adam was fine and didnt vote like crazy for him with the desperation that Matt, Allison and Kris’s fans felt is the only reason ADam was in the bottom.
I completely agree that AI has been known to screw with he bottom 3 many times. But last night all the wrong stars alligned and Adam was nearly sent home.
Vote like crazy for your favorite. period. or two hours. set up Dial Idol. Set up skype. Vote like crazy. Every single fan vote counts every week.
Thinking that AI was just screwing around for ratings leads to complacancy. vote. Have the FEAR that YOU don’t vote for 2 hours, then Adam wll go home. Every person needs that mindset.
deleted
He was IN the bottom TWO!
I give up!
Doug–you are assuming the producers screwed the results. I am not in that camp. I believe the results to be 100% truthful.
This next week will give us a good view into just how smart Adam Lambert is in the “business” part of show business. There is evidence to this point in his career that maybe he isn’t that good at at.
Huh?
Ok, Adam is 27, has one of the greatest voices of our generation and yet could only manage a role playing second fiddle in “Wicked” off broadway? This tells us that on some level, Adam has been making bad career choices along the way. By now, he should already be a superstar. What’s wrong?
Perhaps it is his tendency to do what HE WANTS instead of what the PEOPLE WANT? If he wants to win, he needs to see the light on that and pick two songs this week that the people want to hear and how they want to hear them. He needs to broaden his appeal. He needs to hit for average.
This is literally his to lose. If he picks VERY popular songs with broad appeal this week, we will know he gets it. If we hear the song he is singing and need to go to U2B just to find out how the tune goes, he is in trouble.
P.S., I have noticed that occasionally, Adam picks arrangements where he sings quite a bit in a minor key. This takes great skill, but it isn’t commercially appealing. He did this in ROF and FG – and struggled in the voting after both.
He needs to bring the fun and the happy. It’s his to win or lose. If Adam doesn’t pull this off, he has no one to blame but himself.
Doug, of what benefit is it to Adam to have people believe that he really wasnt bottom 2? Wouldn’t it help much more to have his fans scared? To rally his fans?
Doug, chill out, please. Seriously. It’s a REALITY TV SHOW. I nearly lost it last night, and then I was like, WTF? I don’t know Adam. I will never know Adam. He will do fine no matter what happens. Moving on.
I can do no more than vote for Adam. That’s it. I can vote for him, as hard as possible, and everyone who is a fan of Adam’s can do the same. IF he ends up B2 or goes home (unlikely during Rock Week, possible the week of Top 3), then you know you did your due diligence. IF TPTB are screwing around with the numbers, they know better than to 1) do it two weeks in a row, and 2) do it during rock week, unless Adam screws up, and I do not think he will.
In fact, I bet he is thinking, What do I need to do this week not to end up B2? He will get advice from anyone he needs to (I mean, please, who has more contacts in the music world than he does?). He will choose his songs very carefully and he will sing the hell out of them. I think he will try something big (e.g., Sweet Child o Mine, Walk This Way, Dream On, Someone Saved My Life Tonight, etc.) and something along the lines of Dust in the Wind (PLEASE) or Don’t Stop Believing, to show off both sides of his singing range. He will use the stage for one song and will sit or stand by the piano or go acoustic for the other.
He will NOT do RoF. He will not go glam. He will NOT sing something really mellow or unknown. He has been singing professionally for too long. THIS is his genre, and he knows what to sing and how to sing it, and his fans will vote for him in boatloads. He will be safe this week if these things all happen, IMO. And then if he ends up B2 or going home, well, he did what he needed to do (hopefully) and so did we (hopefully).
After this coming week, who the hell knows? It is a wide-open season, and any of the remaining four could win. A Danny/Adam finale is by no means set, no matter what Paula and Simon proclaim, unless they make it so, and I do not think that they can.
Flat Stanley says Adam FTW
Even though E19 does have the right to override the popular vote (stated in the show’s disclaimer), they do know that the public vote is a direct reflection of each performer’s potential. If the public will not even lift a finger to dial their phone to keep their fave in the competition , they probably will not surf to Itunes to pay for a download, nor will they drive to the store and buy their first CD if they win.
After watching for 8 seasons, and reading almost every article ever printed or blogged about, I am almost certain E19 uses manipulation of the voting as it relates to who goes and when, what makes good TV and what doesn’t. Ultimately the performers getting the least votes go home, but not until it serves the producers’ interest. This means that ’sometimes’ they give the impression that certain performers are at risk, when in reality they may have gotten more than enough votes to secure their spot in the finals, so this ‘impression’, though not true at that moment… is not a total lie, every contestant is at risk every week.
This is reality TV, not real life. It’s not a sanctioned sport nor is it regulated by any federal agency. Every contestant signs page after page of waivers and consents to be used and abused(written in more gentile language obviously)in order to take their shot at stardom.
I am not arguing that point at all. The thing is that Adam’s fans have been very supportive ( Itunes, Radio spins,Online polls, etc etc).
To come out and say that his fans are lazy or dont care because of an OBVIOUS manipulation is wrong, very wrong to me. It is not necessary to scare Adam fans into voting for him!
Glenda is right on! I think some of the Adam faithful are in complete and total denial!!! You have to admit, at least now it “feels” like a contest, which is not a bad thing, and not a foregone conclusion. Although, I do believe it will energize his base BIG TIME for the remainder of the contest, I also think for the FIRST time people are going to start questioning his skills and talents. A little shine off that armor has already begun.
Also, someone help me here…..am I crazy but didn’t the last 4 Idol winners (Cook, Sparks, Hicks, Underwood) NEVER get to the bottom 3????? I know they played a few games with Jordan (like during the African relief week) but if memory serves me right none of them were. (I’m probably off by 4..(:)
Doug–my very own sister–who thinks Adam is the re-incarnate of Elivs, for gawd’s sake didn’t vote last night. She e-mailed me this morning–and told me so. (I am in NY–she is in Daytona) Said next week she would vote like a mad woman–she ASSUMED he was safe.
Jackson, Jordin was in the B3 during Bon Jovi week–she was horrible. (Only time she was there or was horrible.) Cook was NEVER in the B3. Not sure about the others.
Actually, Doug, this is a VERY good time to rally Adam’s base. So many of his fans thought he had won already. Nope. Not so much. (Not me, BTW. I voted very hard the past two weeks. I never forget what happened to Michael Johns and Carly and Daughtry.) Kris and Adam’s fans will be mad voting this week. I don’t know about Gokey’s, and I don’t care; I just want him B2. Matt’s votes might go to Allison or to Kris or might go nowhere, which will happen if/when Adam is booted.
Bill, I agree with you wholeheartedly. When you listen to FEELING GOOD studio track (Stunning vocal that everyone should buy) it was so clean and pure singing (no wailing etc.) but yet was still interesting and demonstrated his skill beyond belief.
Why doesn’t he do this on Idol? This is the kind of singing people can relate to. His “is anybody listening”.
Time to take the focus of the entertaining a bit and switch to pure singing. The easy road for a few weeks. Then kill it in the final two
Totally agree with sue brody – Adam is deep shit either way you look at it. Next week is rock week, which normally would mean that he would bring out the crazy Adam – eyeliner, leather, hair ect…”the scream”. But now that he was in the bottom two, and I think it scared him a little, he has to decide if he wants to keep that image up, or will he tone it down. People will question him if he tones it down, but people might hate it if he sings his usual. So he is dammed if he does dammed if he doesn’t. Gokey and Kris will get the chance to act all rocked-out because no one has seen that side of them. Adam can’t now. Adam always looks so good on result night. He needs to keep that look for next week and like sue said, sing a popular, and great song. No screaming, no crazy look. A song like Dream On or a Bon Jovi Ballad – like I’ll be there for you. He needs to sings two types of song. A rock ballad and a faster song. No way Gokey and Kris will do well next week. Adam needs to step it up. He either wants to go all the way, or he wants to do what he wants and be artistic. Hard week for him I hope, HOPE he choose right.
By the way – what is constituting rock this week? That’s kind of broad. I think since they are doing two songs, they should all pick a 70’s classic rock song and an 80’s arena rock song/hair band.
Adam ha singing skill he is hardly even showing us yet. Like his big note in Feeling Good. He can hold any note, it does not need to be a wailing (scream) note.
I think he will start to pull it out.
BTW…….remember when most of us thought Group 1 in the Top 36 was loaded…..I started thinking about it last night, Group 2 was like an ALL STAR team…check this out
1) Group 2 produced 4 of the final 5…including Matt, Adam, Allison and Kris
2) Group 2 also had: Mishavonna, Megan and Jesse Langseth
I agree with wizkid. I think he has made some great choices (ToMT, BoW, MW), some pretty good ones (BTBW), and some bad ones (PTFM, IICHY–God I hated that–and FG-and I mean on stage, not in the studio). I loved RoF and it showcased his voice, but it was glam, and he CANNOT go glam this week. He cannot go glam again until he wins, or he absolutely will not win. There is a lot more to his voice (I Just Love You and Is Anybody Listening, in particular) than he has shown. He better do so this week.
Oh, and I think the producers have chosen 100 songs in the rock genre that have been approved and have given the contestants their choices (hopefully two songs, possibly one, however, though I doubt it). Last year, it was songs from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but not specified this year.
Adam was in the Bottom 3 because Gokey did great for the first time in months and Allison fans panic-voted, while Adam’s slacked. He wasn’t close to leaving in what was surely one of the broadest Bottom 3 in AI history. I bet he wasn’t Bottom 2, AI did that to spice it up as the results have been so amazingly accurate and predictable this season. They also did it so Adam fans would go panic mode thinking he’s in danger and skyrocket vote for him. Even if he’s bad next week, he’ll be safe.
Adam being in the Bottom 3 was surprising, but I don’t think it’s a shocker, and if that’s THE shocker, then this season had incredibly tame and accurate results.
‘It’s not like I called him Krissy Pooh, that’s disrespectful.’
Shoot, does that mean i can’t call him that?
I agree with Joe that all Adam fans need to treat this as a five-alarm emergency. (Although I will point out self-righteously that I sat alone in an empty house and voted via dialidol for two…solid…hours, so nanny nanny booboo and where were these other slackers, really)
It could have been a spread of only ten thousand votes from top to bottom (meaning Gokey to Adam, i suspect matt came in lower than that).
So fer Christ’s sakes, quit doing the pity vote splits that Adam can’t afford and concentrate. Sheesh.
(i’m in a mood today. Bad week. Sorry.)
I’ve been wondering if the voters who gave Taylor Hicks the crown are still viewing and voting? I tend to look at Danny and see Taylor. I don’t think AI wants to go down that road again. IMO Adam has the better chance at worldwide stardom which would continue to enhance the show’s mystique and popularity.
I rewatched the show and Ryan never said that Danny and Allison were the top two vote getters. He just said that they were safe. He did say the Kris and Adam and Matt were the bottom three, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they had the least amounts of votes. It just means that Ryan assigned them the bottom three spots. With one of them being the contestant that had the least amount of votes (Matt). He never said that Adam was one of the two with the least amount of votes. He just said he was in the bottom two. Matt had the lowest amount of votes and therefore was kicked off.
I am beyond happy adam was in bottom 2 because look how it lit a fire under adam veoters, i mean we are determined now, what if allison woulda been in bottom 2? all the apilt voters woulda leaned towards her and got adam booted!! now listen, I hope Danny is in the top 2 again next week and that his fans become complacent and for the top 3, he will be voted off..hahah…we need to think..we needed that scare, adam needed that scare..it gives him more motivation as it does us..this is the BEST THING that oucld happen..
remember daughtry folks..
when your on top the only place to go is down
Yeah, gina–Ryan did say it. Re-watch the segment after Jamie Foxx does his performance. Ryan is talking to Jamie and asked the 2 boys to come onto the stage. Ryan — to Jamie (exact quote), “Did Amrica get this right tonight? This is the bottom TWO here.”
I am not surprised that Adam was in the bottom 3 (Danny has a huge fan base, and Allison is getting votes from other consitutenties, I believe, like Lil’s, who said to vote for Allison, and maybe Anoop’s, though I have no idea with him; I thought his would go to Kris, if anyone). I do NOT know if Adam was B2, and there is a very good chance he was not, but did it make for high drama? You bet it did. Do you think the internet would be all aflutter if Kris had been bottom 2? No, it would not be (not saying it didn’t matter, but Kris has never been the front runner that Adam and Danny have been).
To wit: Last year they said there were only a million votes separating Syesha, Archie, and Cook the week that Castro was booted (Top 4). I’m sorry, but I find that very, very hard to believe. I am sure that Castro was slaughtered in the voting (he said he wanted off the show), but I also can’t believe the Davids received, say, 15 million votes a piece, Syesha got 14 million, and Jason got 1 million (I’m exaggerating, but you know what I mean). IF this was true, then why did they throw Syesha under the bus the following week? They just wanted viewership for Top 3, and then they could squash her, and make it a David v David finale. I absolutely agreed with that finale, but she had NO chance. They gave her a PENGUINS song for the producers’ choice, and then blamed her for not doing enough with it. A PENGUIN song, people! C’mon now.
I don’t care what Ryan said about B2. True, not true, it made for big time viewership. Bigger than the other results’ shows have received.
RATINGS RATINGS RATINGS
i believe there is a concerted effort by the organized voting efforts for kris to discredit and disrespect adam due to his sexual preferences. i have noticed more and more provocative pictures published on websites that promote adam’s homosexuality and provocative behavior. i am a huge adam fan, always vote and everyone i know is an adam fan and votes. my sister voted 465 times tuesday nite! i watch the show on west coast time and i can hardly EVER get through to vote for adam. i think the “religious zealots” and the fanbase for kris had more to do with last nite’s shocker than anything else. i have noticed that kris’s numbers are not great and have been surprised that he hasn’t been in the bottom three before last nite.
Joe’s right on this.. They also will NOT certify results, even at the finale, because they retain the right to throw out votes, or override the audience. It is in every idol’s contract. It was discovered during Season 2 after the Clay vs Ruben showdown. When push came to shove, AI couldn’t certify that Ruben got the most votes, and a statement was issued that this show is a “reality show” for “entertainment purposes.”
Drama, Drama, Drama that is what the producers wanted and that’s what they got. Everybody reiled up about it. Believe me Adam wasn’t in the bottom. They put him there for the effect. And it worked. Look what everyone is talking about. Ratings folks….
“Joe’s right on this.. They also will NOT certify results, even at the finale, because they retain the right to throw out votes, or override the audience. It is in every idol’s contract.
Holy shit. You realize this essentially gives them license to manipulate it any way they want?
Talk about being played for suckers. They must just sit back and giggle at all of these impassioned fans.
Still going to vote my ass off, though.
but now I’m sad again.
Gina, you are in BIG DENIAL!!!!!!!!! (:
1) If there are 5 people, and 3 are in the bottom 3, then the other 2 DID HAVE MORE VOTES! What else would the bottom 3 mean?
2) He did say Adam was in bottom 2, he called it the bottom 2, which means they had less votes than the other 3.
Is it me, but some of the Adam fans CANNOT and WILL NOT accept 4th place out of 5 places this week without it being a 1) hoax 2) conspiracy 3) typo 4) verbiage slip 5) producer ratings ploy 6)end of mankind 7) vote splitters nervana 8)alien intervention.
We beat the Glamberts! We beat the Glamberts! (:
Man, Jackson, you are hating on the Lambert fans, no?
Bottom line: Adam was in the bottom 2, 3, 100, doesn’t matter. He or Matt was going home. Matt went home. Adan needs your votes (or, if you’re Jackson, someone else’s votes). So vote and then…well, you’ve done all you can do.
I actually like Adam, alot. He’s one of Idol great entertainers (not necessarily singers) of ALL TIME. I’m just teasing, it’s just amazing to watch people come up with all the different reasons to explain away the obvious.
Bill,
I would think that not the same ones doing their thing on votefornumber1 can construe DialIdol, plus be doing a number on real voting results.
There HAS to be a real incentive to fuss with the phone lines. Watch the betting sites. Sure–it’s easy to hack into the data base–change some line codes and put in any number you want–but, boy–I cannot imagine doing that just to get your guy or gal a win–the penalty is pretty severe. I can only imagine that happening for a monetary gain–and a big one.
Yes–the Idol peeps can control or throw out votes. It’s the only control they have against Phone Phreakers. They do try to single them out and their votes do get thrown out. Regular phone or regular texting votes don’t get thrown out.
FCC does handle the complaints. If there is any evidence of vote fixing–they would investigate. However, most of the complaints are how they cannot get through, but logjams start at the local level.
I voted for Taylor. I am not voting for Danny.
What makes me mad is all the dirty tricks some contestant’s fan bases pull I saw an e-mail from a local church saying if you do not vote for ***** you will be punished. I think that is just wrong and many many people are very impressionable. IMO if I were TPTB at Idol I would disqualify those contstants.
Wow aren’t TPTB clever little bunnies.
Everyone is all riled and and here we go again all with our opinions, so sure we KNOW what will ensure HNN gets the bit old lump of white bread in the vast state of dumbfuckikstan to vote for him.
Meh – whatever. HNN has a plan, has worked pretty well so far whether he is in B3, B2 or was top vote getting being fucked with he is still there. Top 4 (his little hand rub on the ear when he was safe is s theater message apparently him telling his fans all good). I trust he knows what he is doing and that he wants to win but on his terms, not by becoming a slightly edgier version of Gokey Pokey and Puppies and Rainbows.
And moving on – How about Feeling Good… cause after I lost count of listens it is feeling very good. It is so solidly Adam in every way (and in that I trust)…
because the Adam is built in.
Jackson – are you a Gokey fan? Why all the hostility? I’m just saying that he didn’t say these two got the lowest votes, he said they were the bottom two. It’s different. He didn’t say that Gokey and Allison were the top two. He said they were safe. So, they aren’t necessarily the top two, or he would have said it.
And for all those who are promoting HNN to “water it down” because no matter how you spin it (appeal to the “masses”) that is what you want him to do:
From TWoP
“Let’s put Flo Rida in the mix and see how many casual votes he gets.”
WORD to that.
Regarding next week – I think they’ve already picked their songs, so Adam probably can’t change much at this point. I say that because in one of his confessionals (or an interview – I forget which) he said song choice was definitely the hardest thing. And once you’ve picked it you have to go with it if you change your mind later. (I’m paraphrasing)
He’s expected to do well in Rock week so the pressure is high once again. Matt was expected to do well on Jazz Week cause it was his genre. How did that work out?
I wish there were some way to get him to read Bill’s earlier post about next week’s performances. It’s great advice. Do we know there will be 2 songs next week?
All of his fans power voting for 2 hours is imperative. But it’s not enough. It can’t be just us. He needs new voters – fans of the departed ones & casual voters with no strong favorite.
So now not only can’t we trust Dial Idol, but votenumberone was way the hell off too. So we know nothing until the results are announced.
“We”. I didn’t see you up on that stage, Jackson.
Exactly, Downeast. That why Idol will NEVER be classified as a “game show”. Too many rules to follow. As a reality show they can make it up as they go along.
And don’t be sad, Downeast, The one with the lowest votes ALWAYS goes home and the one with the highest, wins. ALWAYS.
This is my last comment on the B2 heard around the world…I have read many people on HNN forums who admitted either they or people they knew didn’t vote or didn’t vote as much or switched to voting for second favorite this week. If you consider that as a sample size across country you have a significant change in HNN vote. He has pretty broad appeal and wide fan base he needs to … Butt there I go. Not going to say what he needs to do. What he’s been doing has been pretty terrific. Just keep doing that.
Because the Adam is built in.
When you see the (: face it is meant in gest… Sometimes it hard to be seen as having fun and being playful and ribbing your fellow fans in writing.
??
lol.. I was just teasing you, jackson. You said something about “We beat the glamberts”.
Tease away! I had mentioned in one the earlier posts that someone in Allison’s folder on American Idol site had posted on the subject line of an entry “We Beat the Lamberts!”….no matter the fact that Allison had escaped a possible elimination, but was so happy that her fans had outvoted his fans.
AlleyKat Jackson
Sorry Jackson – didn’t know.
I really would though, like to see him look like he did in the results show for at least one performance show. Not dressed up in the theme of that week. I hope he picks two really good songs and just sings them well. I will for sure vote as much as I can.
I would like to see Adam wear something really really wild, like almost like the guy in the Kiss band. I think it was shocking to see him suit and tie, but it’s good for about one time.
I’m going to laugh if Adam is eliminated because all of you are clinging to your conspiracy theories. Adam was almost eliminated. He is not above the things that happened to Chris Daughtry. If fans don’t vote harder, he will be eliminated.
I totally agree Mike!!!!
“I would like to see Adam wear something really really wild, like almost like the guy in the Kiss band.”
See that’s where YMMV. Unless he decides to sabotage himself and go down in a blaze of Adam, (and there’s a little tiny defiant part of me that wants him to do just that), I’d rather see him in a pair of jeans and a tee shirt (plus the emo hair, I love the emo hair) just letting his voice do the talking. No gratuitous glory notes, just a mike stand….just Adam’s voice, proving he doesn’t need anything else.
Didn’t have time to read all the posts so apologies up front if this is a repeat.
I want Adam to win like veryone else, but Tuesday night I did split my votes for Allison because Simon threw her under the bus and I was hoping she’d stick around for the rock theme week.
However, the vast majority of my 2 hours of voting went to Adam. AND, I received a busy signal only a few times.
Conclusion: Adam fan were not voting and he ended up in the bottom 2.
If you want Adam in the finale, then you need to vote like crazy.
I wish people would stop the DialIdol, Vote4Number1, IdolMap, and other prediction tools nonsense. Just vote for the contestant who you want to win instead of trying to vote ’strategically’. I can believe that Adam was in the bottom two/three because some of his fans were too busy coming up with voting plans to get Adam’s best buddy to the finale instead of focusing on Adam.
This is exactly what I have been saying. I know it is true. Its manipulation.
Seacrest said to Jamie Foxx: “This is the bottom 2. Did America get it right?” What do you people not understand from that?
I just read on another blog that in an after-elimination interview, Matt said that Adam wasn’t happy with his performance the previous night; so when Adam chose to go to the Danny/Allison group, he thought he was putting himself in the bottom group!
So does that mean he wasn’t humiliated? Maybe he was just startled that Ryan was moving him across the stage?
Your thoughts, please.
BUSY SIGNALS
Most wats logjams start at the local level. YOUR area doesn’t have enough lines or are not trunkated to handle the traffic.
Few are on Idol’s end. Probably less than 10%.
Forgot to add…Adam’s studio version of “Feeling Good”? Beyond words…it is gorgeous. Dare I say, it is the first studio version that I prefer over the live version.
Meg, I have both heard and read that, too. I didn’t realize it at the time, but Adam thought he was going to the B2 side, not the Top 2 side. And if you look at Adam after the performance on Tuesday night, it was the FIRST time he didn’t smile OR or thank the judges or the audience. He just stood there. It was a kind of odd. Also, from what Matt said in a couple of interviews I heard on mj’s blog, both he AND Adam thought they could be going home.
I don’t think there was a humiliation factor, I think Adam was surprised at who the B3 was, b/c Simon had praised Matt so much. But who knows? It happened in 5 seconds! We just like to analyze it.
Great Minds think alike! Numerous comments here re-iterated my same thoughts at the shock of Adam having to choose what side he belonged with. My first thought too was this must be rigged for sensational purposes so home viewer stays involved, and to
believe there is a competition. Not to take away from Allison who is my 2nd or 3rd favorite, next to Kris. She had a sublime performance this week and was deserving of her spot. I thought, some viewers may have used some votes that would have been used exclusively for Adam, in hope to keep her around a little longer, so she will be paired with Adam in the end. Even Doh!key had a great performance, and I felt for once, he too really was deserving of his spot, at least for this weeks performance. He even said himself when asked if there is anything besides Jamie Foxx mentoring, that helped him to achieve his performance, and he replied there is another he looks to, but won’t name names. We all knew who he meant. He who is HIM, have influenced those in this seasons top to step up their game, and become far better performers than they would have ever envisioned for themselves. Still, I am perplexed how Doh!key has never been in the bottom three with such bland performances in the past. The only thought I came up with was that he must be adept at having enough fans maximizing dialidol, because polls, I-tune downloads, and internet activity certainly don’t indicate such popularity. Even though I would like nothing more than to have Adam to ourselves a little sooner by having him voted off, so he would have the freedom to be the artist we envision, this would be selfish. Adam wants to win! He gives us what we want every week, so it is our turn to help give him what he wants and needs, and that is our vote over and over. This is where we must look to Doh!key’s tactic of ensuring every vote counts, and downloading dialidol software to help cast votes. We also need to be pounding away on our cell phones, texting or calling in our vote over and over to ensure Greatness is
rewarded, and not mediocracy.
I believe Adam actually said during the show that he thought Allison/Danny had a better night than Matt/Kris while he was walking over there….he KNEW where to go!
What he said was “based on last night, or last nights performances” something like that. I think he knew too.
American Idol jumped the shark last night. I see it for what it is now. I wish all the contestants the best of luck with the rest of their talented lives.
No he didn’t! He said “based on last night”. Matt’s performance was praised heavily by Simon and Allison Iraheta, depending on how you view it, was as much a goner going into last night as Matt.
Yes i’ve read a couple of Matt’s interviews today that confirmed my doubt. Adam wasn’t happy with his performance Tues night and chose the Bottom 3 group
Matt even said that Kris and him asked Adam why he didn’t choose them as the B3 group backstage.
Here’s the quote from US Weekly:
Q. US Weekly: Were you surprised at the bottom three?
A. Matt: I was definitely surprised that Adam was down there with me. It was a cruel twist for him to have to pick who he thought was in the bottom three. We were giving him a hard time backstage, like, “Why didn’t you pick us?” It was uncomfortable but I could deal with it.
So HATERS, STFU.
Haters???? This board is about 98% Adam fans with a few of us strays. Whose knocking Adam for going to the side that had the best night? I thought he handled it fine. I’m quite sure that Adam and the other contestants have access to the Internet, don’t think for a minute they didn’t know that Matt was the favorite of most people to leave last night, whether he deserved to or not.
Joe’s Place is right!
VOTE for your favorite, then vote again and again until you can’t vote any more. (i think there’s a song here).
American Idol is truly “Americas” contest. If your favorite doesn’t win you have only your self to blame. And Joe’s Place Blog is a great forum to rock the AI vote.
GO GO GOKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow… Some people really need to calm down… And go for a walk outside (with your masks on has to not catch swine flu).
Just get over it Adam fans. Other contestants have been in the B3 who clearly did not deserve it. IT HAPPENS. I think it’s a bit wimpy for those Adam fans who are “having heart attacks” and crying and fantasizing about him and his voice. It’s JUST a show. And we all know whether Adam wins or not that he’s going to have a great career.
I think Kris will be the one to go. Adam is a lock for the finale now that his fans are emotionally distroyed and will vote like there’s no tomorrow for him. Danny will somehow get the votes, and next week is Allison’s genre. As some people have said, Allison is gaining momentum. It wasn’t because Adam fans split votes (although it definitely was a big help). She’s the only girl left and people are confused as to why she’s been in the b3 so many times.
I think it’ll come down to Allison and Kris with Kris leaving. We know what he’s going to do. Same thing he always does.
So happy to see everyone still whipping the dead horse 24 hours later. I might have to call in RSPCA …
But what about that studio recording if Feelin Good! Could be a hit on radio today. Great vocal great attitude and yes way to go Bandzilla for keeping yourselves appropriately medicated this week.
The smooth build the slide into a bit of jazz funk the power up and walking it back down. All were there in the performance but too short to have proper effect. No such issue here. Just Glam-Jazz-Rock-Pop masterpiece. Gets better with each listen.
Because the Adam is built in.
Jackson,
Sorry, by haters i was referring to all the comments i read on the internet about him being arrogant and pretentious for choosing side. I wasn’t addressing anyone on this board specifically. This is one of the most Adam-friendly boards around
Am I really the only one here who wants to see HNN do BSC up a 10x factor from RoF and seriously cause television sets and broad white foreheads to explode across middle america. I’m talking Ziggy Stardust meets Axl Rose BSC… then walk to elimination next week knowing he stayed true to himself, only to be escorted from the studio by a posse of publicists and managers with dollar signs shining above their heads.
only me.
Well alrighty then… a girl can dream.
Thank you everyone who voted to keep Allison in! Please continue to vote!
SAVE THE ROCKER, SAVE THE WORLD, FIGHT THE POWER, KEEP THE GIRL!
Save the Rocker Chick who is more than just a rocker!
<3
Voted 2 hours straight for Allison. Go Allikatz!
Michelle, I saw the exact same kind of interview on Entertainment Weekly.com and Adam didn’t pick the group he thought was the bottom 3, he picked the group he thought was going to be safe. If you go back and watch it Ryan never said Adam was safe, he said pick a group. Not pick the bottom 3 group. Because in past seasons they have never done a bottom 3 in top 5 week, just a bottom 2, so maybe Adam knew this and picked Danny and Allison because he thought they would be safe, and Matt and Kris were the bottom 2.
Here’s the interview.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Now that we’ve gotten to the bottom of that, we can talk about Ryan making Adam choose between the two groups last night. What was going through your mind? Come to my side! Come to my side!
MATT GIRAUD: I really didn’t care what side he was gonna come on. If I was him, though, I probably would have sat down. I would have pulled an Archuleta and not said anything. But Adam was just being real. He’ll tell you what he thinks. He’s not afraid of hurtin’ you. Our feelings weren’t hurt. Kris and I joked about it with him. ”Why didn’t you pick us, dude?”
You are not the ‘only’ one who dreams this dream….I’m right there with ya!
It’s Friday AM–time to continue with this conspiracy–LOL
I belong to several pixel art groups — not supposed to be chat groups–but often are. Somebody posted a question (she lives in Denmark) asking why she was getting chain e-mails with a link in it to go vote for an Idol. She was supposed to send it on to 10 friends. I posted a reply asking who she was supposed to vote for. Being day and night time difference, I still await an answer. This is a small group and I see no replies. Most are overseas. They may not have an answer.
Also–I got thinking about Dial Idol. I know when the voting closes–you get a busy signal (at least I do). Could somebody just set their Dial Idol to continue to just dial and dial and this is why the figures get skewed?
I take no seriousness to either of these things–they have no real value in outcome–but–none the less I am curious.
I think/hope that next week Adam will be safe. Not only are they doing rock songs from the 70s and 80s, but they are doing duets. If he gets paired up with Allison, it will be fantastic and Adam and Allison will reap the benefits voting wise. If Adam gets paired with Kris or Danny, there is no comparison. Adam will blow Kris weak voice out of the water and same with Danny. I am soooooooo glad that they are doing duets. I wonder if it was done on purpose to showcase Allison and Adam.
Start voting a few minutes before the show ends. I get at least 10 votes in before the end. Not much, but if everyone got an extra 10 votes in for Adam it could make a difference.
I know one thing – I’m going to have knots in my stomach both Tues & Wed night. And I hope for 3 more weeks!
Gina, You are so right about Adam being paired with Kris. I DO like Kris’s singing. But his voice is not as strong.
I remember years ago–being a HUGE Patti LaBelle fan–I watched a music award show on TV. Patti and Diana Ross sang a duet. Patti went full force–and I do mean FULL force. When they sang together–you only saw Diana’s lips move. When they sang separate–Patti was level 20–Diana was level 8.
Patti got BLASTED–BLASTED for that. It actually affected her career badly. The fall out went on for years.
If Adam is paired w/ Kris–he HAS to be careful not to repeat poor Patti’s mistake. I hope he is with Allison or Danny–I prefer Allsion!
Good luck Kris!
That’s funny about the voice overpowering thing – I just watched some awards show (can’t remember which one), and they paired Taylor Swift with Miley Cyrus for a duet.
Taylor Swift is the QUEEN of teenage country, and is pretty much the hottest young woman in country music today, if you don’t count Carrie Underwood.
Well, Miley Cyrus so totally overpowered her when they sang the duet – and it didn’t seem intentional either, credit to Miley! They really sang very few of the parts together, but when you heard Miley and then listened to Taylor, it was drastic.
There was such a disparity between their voices, it made Taylor look pretty bad, IMO. And she is a great singer/songwriter too! I think that anyone can be dwarfed by a singer with a HUGE voice like Adam. I would much prefer an Adam/Allison finale! That would be fantastic, I hope it happens!
Yes, but in that case it was Pattie Labelle and the Diana Ross. This is just American idol. Adam won’t get slack if he would overpower Kris. Doing duets would definitely separate the good singers from the great singers. We can compare them side to side and really see who….(um Adam), has the chops to make a record and make it in this business. You have to hold your own and shine when you need to shine. After being in the bottom two last week, he needs to pull it together, pick songs wisely, and not go over the top with his look. He needs the viewers to fall in love with him again like they did for tracks of my tears and mad world.
Look, a few times, Ryan asked the judges and Jamie Foxx if “America got it right”—and he DID say that Adam & Matt were the bottom 2, when he asked Foxx. He didn’t ask if the producers, or he, got it right. He asked if America got it right—CLEARLY implying that these were the vote results. Could he have been given false results by ratings hungry producers? Sure. But, considering how many posts I’ve read from people who felt sorry for Kris & Allison after Simon’s (purposeful and calculated) overly critical reactions, I’m guessing more Adam fans voted for Kris & Allison last night than for Adam. There were plenty of people lamenting that choice on the threads & boards I read.
Adam fans need to realize something—Danny’s diehard fanbase don’t split votes. When your pastor has told you that you are staving off Armaggedon by voting for Danny, you don’t throw pity votes to the equally/more talented competition (or, in Kris’s case, MUCH more Christ-like church leader type).
ETA: Before I get crap thrown on me about picking on Christians, I AM A CHRISTIAN. I simply find it DEPLORABLE to purposefully misuse the body of Christ as a homophobic weapon, or as a tool to win a competition all about anything but God. Jesus loves Adam just as much as the other contestants. Heck—considering the immensity of his multiple talents, I’d say God has Adam’s back fully.
Before this season, did you ever think we would be debating on if Jesus loves one contestant more than another?
Line of the day: “When your pastor has told you that you are staving off Armaggedon by voting for Danny, you don’t throw pity votes to the equally/more talented competition “
enigmatica,, I spit coffee all over my computer… lol
Sorry, JP. Hope the keyboard ain’t cracklin’.
Eni Halleluiah! Amen and all other exclamations of religious agreement.
Yes exactly what you said.
Found something interesting from Nigel Lythgoe who use to be the top producer of the show. It was for an article for entertainment weekly.
He says:
“That being said, it doesn’t mean the show won’t take some liberty with the order that the other two low-vote receiving contestants are told to sit down, he says.
After the votes are collected and tabulated by AT&T and the show’s survey firm, Telescope, “all we’re told at the end of the day is, ‘Here are the Bottom 3,’ ” he says. “And we make whatever we can out of that and turn it into a show.”
This is the first season that I have watched Idol from the start. I started watching in Season 4, but didn’t tune in until the Top 12 were named. Since then, I never started watching until American started voting (Top 24)…..until this year, of course.
It is doubtful that I will ever watch the preliminary episodes ever again. Here is why:
This year I grew to like Matt a great deal by the time the Top 36 were chosen. He was my favorite by leaps and bounds. And what did I have to base this on: “About 2 minutes of singing: a few seconds of his initial audition, a few bars of a beautifully performed “Georgia On My Mind,” and a really neat Hollywood performance with his group called ‘White Chocolate’.
I mean I really loved Matt….and I still do.
But in the early rounds, I saw very little of Allison Iraheta, or Kris Allen (who was also in White Chocolate).
I found Adam Lambert to be sickening as he sang some strange version of Cher’s “Believe”
As for Danny, I was totally turned off by his sob story (which was sad, indeed)….and I was also turned off by the story of his best friend also trying to make it on Idol…..
………….
Now that Matt is out. I can put my ‘first love’ to rest and look at the final four more objectively.
Here’s how I rate them.
Fourth: Adam…..Sorry folks…the guy can sing, but so can the others. I hope he goes home next week.
Third: Allison…..don’t ask me why…..she’s just third.
Second: Kris….I really like this kid.
First: Danny…. I am ashamed that I let the preliminaries prejudice me against this very talented guy. His voice is distinctive…. He’s always on key…. For him it is perfectly fine to sing things just as they are written…… I put him in a class with Tony Bennett, or any of the other crooners that have stuck around for ages.
I’ll be happy with Kris or Danny. I do miss Matt. But in all honesty…. I do think Danny is our man.
BEST thing i’ve read in days!
Yes i’m baffled by the magnanimity displayed by a portion of Adam fans: “Allison needs our help!”, “Kris needs our help!” GOD. It pains/annoys/confuses me to no end. People have said that they’ve never seen anything like this before.
I just hope people realize that NOBODY needs their votes more than Adam right now. And as far as I’m concerned, nobody deserves the votes more.
here is what I think is interesting, Tue was oneof the lowest ratings AI has had this season, and adam was on top on most of the polls for most of the night, therefore, I think for a “shock” purpose they put him in the bottom 2, I’m not sayin he’d been top vote or 2nd, but I do not honestly feel that he was in the bottom 2, but I am so happy they did it, because of what happened to DAughtry & Kat when revealed they were the highest vote, the next wk they were bottom 2. This is a good thing any way I look at it and All i know is Adam fans are PISSED and coming to kill this wk!!
I’ve never seen anything like it either. Danny must be laughing his ass off.
If I were Danny I’d hope Allison goes out next week. Most of the vote-splitting that goes on is Adam fans voting for Kris in this absurd belief that this will result in a “Kradam” finale. No it won’t. In fact, the only thing this vote splitting will ensure is that Danny reaches the finale. As has been pointed out Danny’s fans are most assuredly NOT vote-splitting.
I hope this near disaster wakes some fans up but I have my doubts. I think fans who are only fans of Adam will vote harder but Kradam fans will still vote-split not realizing or maybe not caring that their votes are just canceling each other out and helping Danny.
