I have a feeling that the backup singers and band really love working with Adam because he makes it so interesting for them. He also gives them mad props during the song (BTBW) and after.
I am curious how much actual input Adam has into the arrangements. Just because Adam is such a phenomenal performer doesn’t tell us that much about his actual musical knowledge (i.e., reading music, key changes, etc…)
I once knew a studio musician in LA that could hear a song once on the radio and play it back for you, making changes and telling you how he would improve it here and there – but, the man couldn’t even read music – all by ear.
I would be curious to learn how deep Adam’s musical training goes. It still surprises me that after 17 years in music, he doesn’t play an instrument. Usually, poeple with his gift and perfect pitch are also drawn towards an instrument.

He is one of the few in this competition actually sounds BETTER live because his voice is so smooth and right on the notes when he does belt out a song. unbelievable vocalist.

I actually am one of the people who thinks Adam sounds better live. Which is NOT to say that is recordings are beautiful, too (Foo Fighters), but when I see and hear him sing Dust in the Wind and Mad World, I practically get teary-eyed. I hope he makes an album as beautiful as his voice is.

We don’t even know if Adam plays an instrument or not. He could really surprise us by bustin’ out a guitar or something.
I agree with Linder though, his vocal ability is his instrument. I’ve never, ever heard a voice as beautiful as his. The best thing about this is that I’m pretty sure he hasn’t shown us his full potential. He can sing miles around the others in his sleep(no offense to Allison, cause I love her).
For me Kris Allen is now the Archuleta of this competition, except that he wasn’t picked as a front-runner in the begginning. He’s predictable and not especially good at singing uptempo songs. The only difference between the two is: 1)Archie is a better vocalist 2)Archie is more pop, while Kris is folkish.
Matt is awesome when he doesn’t go overboard with the falsetto and riffs. Allison is always great, but wears some outfits that are….distracting in a bad way.
Gokey hasn’t grown since the begginning, but I still like him more than Kris.
I completely agree with the opinions on Adam’s songs. I LOVE his live versions!! While I also really like the studio recordings and own all of them, I prefer the live versions and wish they would just let him record the songs the way he wants….if that’s the case! His performance is the added bonus to his voice!
Am I the only one who hates this year’s background singers? they don’t do a very good job blending in- I think last year’s was so much better!

Have never heard this before. It is amazing. Have NO idea why Adam hasn’t ripped this out on the show.
You know, it just occured to me that Adam could do “Dust In The Wind” as one of his songs during rock week as it is a rock ballad. That and maybe “Paradise City” for some contrast?
What is the one thing, besides his amazing voice, that makes Adam stand out above all the other contestants this year?
Every other contestant has a certain genre in which they shine, which they voice is geared to. the most flexible other contestant being Allison.
Adam can literally sing anything and sound amazing. His genre is not limited by his voice.

As for the hint on the Foxx tune, maybe she is referring to Jamie Foxx, who played Ray Charles in the biopic. Could be a cover of Georgia on my Mind, which was done by Ray Charles but also Dean Martin. Matt could be recycling his arguably most successful song to date from Hollywood week.

Um, this is clearly from a stage production. Adam obviously has many fans on this site. Can we all just accept his orientation and appreciate him for all he has to offer?
Also, the guy has amazing vocal ability, can act, and is a proficient dancer. These are skills most useful in the theater, and my impression is that he has been involved in that for longer than the recording/pure music performance aspect of the biz. That might explain why he hasn’t taken up an instrument.

After leaving the “Upright Cabaret” on Saturday I was getting gas and I bumped into a couple friendly guys from the event that knew Adam. He said he is a super nice guy. Jamie Foxx lip-syncs all the songs in the film “Ray”, so it seems weird that Sy Smith would refer to any of them as Foxx’s.
In the event she is talking about “Foxx” in that context, though, the “Ray” soundtrack has several songs recorded by Rat Packers other than “Georgia on My Mind.” Sinatra covered “Hallelujah, I Love Her So,” and “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” and Sammy Davis, Jr. recorded “What’d I Say.” I guess Foxx could be linked to any of those by having lip-synced them in the film, but it sure seems tenuous to me.
Adam has “off-putting mannerisms”! Which are? Darn i despise writers who just throw words around like that.

He’s one of the few Fiyeros that I truly enjoyed – even if he’s not the AI Adam he is today. I’ve seen my share of Fiyeros but what he did to the songs and character is fun and can’t help but fall in love with him (Fiyero) in some scenes.

The HCYDC video from Upright is incredible. Oh to see this guy live. If he loses to Kris it will be a sad, sad day for AI imo.
