Hey all – so I spend so much time working on DialIdol during the year I don’t often have my pulse on everything going on outside of DialIdol. That’s usually where you all keep me up-to-date and I appreciate it!
One thing I noticed this weekend while I was testing and I am wondering if anyone had heard anything about – phone numbers!
We all know the phone numbers to vote : 1-866-436-5701 through 5712.
Usually if you call these numbers outside a voting window they are busy and that is the case today.
However… This year there are 13 contestants. It appears that American Idol does not own 1-866-436-5713 (or 1-866-436-5700 for that matter). I’d advise you not to call either number as the content is not rated G.
This raises the question – what the heck are they going to do for the 13th contestant? Has anything heard anything? New numbers? New voting system entirely? A lone non-contiguous number? Are they frantically trying to buy the number? Am I just dialing wrong?

Interesting, Right? It does seem that Adding a 13th contestant was a last minute decision….one that the producers clearly didn’t think through.
It just doesnt seem right that one contestant would be given a totally separate telephone number. ESPECIALLY the LAST contestant. The Pimped Contestant.

A little birdie gave me some insight on song choices for the week. But, I’m hearing there’s been some conflict over who gets what… but this is what I’ve been told as of this morning (Sun):
Lil wants to keep us satisfied.
Kris is singing to all his fangirls.
Adam is good – and you know it!
Alexis is not ready to bid farewell.
Danny has to be careful of what he does in this round.
Anoop’s doing this one for the ladies.
Megan is a little wistful.
Jorge wants to give you a special feeling.
Scott sees the benefit of we.
Jasmine is contemplating some deep issues.
Michael wants to assure you that he’ll be around.
Allison may be a girly girl, but she’s got that spark!
Matt is taking a long, hard look at his musical identity.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a new ‘twist’ where the judges get to choose one contestant who has immunity per week… therefor a 13th number wouldn’t be necessary.
Ha!!! @ eric’s comment. So true. I’m sure they are frantically trying to buy the numbers–and I guess a lot of pervs are going to be unwittingly casting votes for one of the three. Hmm. Interesting situation, very interesting.
Man I wish I had that -13 phone number. I’m sure idol, if they haven’t already, made a huge high dollar offer to take it.
I’d say Lil, Adam, Danny or Anoop. He’s definitely the 4th pimped contestant.
OMG. Hysterical. Maybe they will decide that Jasmine and Megan get the same number. That could POSSIBLY keep the two in the running…
Nah. One of them is probably gone (unless it’s Michael).
Good thinking, Idol. Nigel must be laughing hysterically over at the So You Think You Can Dance auditions.
They need to just let Adam sing for us and not give him a number! Cause he’s so great we know he’s going to make it through.
