Jasmine is singing “Love Song” by Sara Bareilles.

  7. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Well, my man Adam gets the pimp spot – no shock there. Jasmine is surprisingly thin sounding here. I think part of the problem is the sound system is just HORRIBLE this year.

  8. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Gotta give that a big “meh” from Jasmine. Very pitchy. Simple songs like this really really expose a thin voice.

  9. Idol Battles wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Jasmin… and there goes one of the favorites for the girls…

  10. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Wow, Matt Giraud is going second? Ouch, that’s a tough spot to be. Didn’t Ricky go second last week?

  11. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Geesh Matt Giraud sounds AWFUL! OMG, it’s a pitchfest. Whew, two early strong contenders are blowin it hard core. I don’t recall his voice sounding this bad. Also, another terrible song choice.

  12. Idol Battles wrote on 25. Feb 2009

I think he’s trying really, really hard to sound like Coldplay… Which isn’t going to bode well…

Too many people LOVE that song… And I don’t think it did it justice AT ALL. 0/2

  13. Idol Battles wrote on 25. Feb 2009

    Wow… That was pretty much horrendous also… WOW… 0/3

    This is ouch!

  14. sara wrote on 25. Feb 2009

A rough start again this week! Nerves and bad song choices! Go Norman!

  15. Idol Battles wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Well, you can always count on Normund to be entertaining! lol… Sadly, he’s by far the best so far lol

  16. Joes Place wrote on 25. Feb 2009

    Normund Gentle. Have my babies

  17. 14K Lady wrote on 25. Feb 2009

What they just did to Jeanine was disgusting. To talk about someone’s legs and lips like that is unbelieveable. Now that stupid a**hole is on the stage acting like a fool and I hope he wins the entire show and this show comes to a sick end.

  18. zBella wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Holy Moly! Norman’s got big guts to do a performance like that and you’re so right Idol Battles, he is the best so far. Who knows with how the night has gone he may end up being the best!

  19. lindsay wrote on 25. Feb 2009

    oww…what did normund sing??

  20. Joes Place wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Normund “And I am telling you”

  21. lindsay wrote on 25. Feb 2009

    again? oh well.

  22. Idol Battles wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Well, FINALLY! Allison rocked the house… and on a song I was very, very afraid of… I think she’s going to sail through

  23. Rachel wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Well I couldn’t remember Allison before but that was INCREDIBLE!!! 0/3 before that. Though Norman was funny. Love Man in the Mirror, let’s see what he does!

  24. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Um, is it just me or are the background singers TOTALLY off-key tonight.

  25. Rachel wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Wow Kris! Please don’t say he was boring, judges! He was great! Tonight is turning out to be WAY different than I thought! Good luck Jasmine, but I think you’re done after these two and Adam coming up…

  26. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

You know, it HAS got to eb the sound system that is making these singers voices sound so thin tonight. No one’s voice has any timbre or resonance to it.

Terrible sound system – terrible backup singers.

  27. Idol Battles wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Kris can for sure sing… But with the song… and the performance, he kinda reminds me of a N’Sync type artist… I think he had a great chance, and I agree with Kara and this was the way wrong song.

  28. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

I thought tonight was gonna be amazing but so far it had completely sucked IMHO. I guess we are seeing what happens when you let 36 people perform instead of 24. You get a lot of suck.

  29. Joes Place wrote on 25. Feb 2009

So far the only one I have loved is Nick. I was dying. so funny

  30. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

So far, seriously i have heard better music on karaoke night.

  31. Rachel wrote on 25. Feb 2009

OMG MEGAN! AMAZING! Jeez! What is this? This was supposed to be the sucky night@

  32. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Megan’s voice is interesting, but very thin. I can see getting very tired of it.

  33. Idol Battles wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Okay, I’m in LOVE… That’s the best of the night BY FAR… Megan Corkrey FTW!

    Will you marry me?

  34. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Megan’s problem is that she is VERY shouty on the big notes. Very flat too. Loved the first part of the song, hated the second part. She could sound very good and interesting mixed in the studio.

  35. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

HATIN the full arm tatoo on her. Why the heck would such a cute girl get that monstrosity on her arm? It makes no sense.

  36. Rachel wrote on 25. Feb 2009

    Agreed about the tattoo!

  37. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Man, all of these singers voices are just so thin. Right about now I am missing me some David Cook. Matt had some good momenst there, but when he had a chance to blow us away he just didn’t.

  38. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

The problem is that these songs they are chosing don’t BUILD to anyything. The song has no MOMENT. Ugh, terrible night.

  39. Idol Battles wrote on 25. Feb 2009

I love that song that Matt sang… But I don’t know if it’s the best song to sing on American Idol… Unless you’re completely amazing, and he wasn’t… good, not amazing…

  40. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

I am thinking we might get two women and a man tonight. I am expecting Jesse to nail it – she is a pro.

I have always hated this song but she is singin it well. Excellent pitch. She is in Top 12 based on this.

  41. Rachel wrote on 25. Feb 2009

I REALLY want to like her. She’s not as good as Allison and Megan though… Maybe a wildcard?

  42. Idol Battles wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Jesse has pretty eyes… She’s not bad… Not great… Take about everything I said about Matt and it applies… Good, not great…

  43. Rachel wrote on 25. Feb 2009

See and I feel like even if she goes through, she wont last long… Again, I really WANT to like her…

  44. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

So far, I give tonight a 4 out of 10. This season so far has been a complete disappointment to me. Please Adam, save us from mediocrity.

  45. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Does Kai have the ability to sing more than one note? Listen to him. Every single not was exactly the same.

  46. Idol Battles wrote on 25. Feb 2009

So, I am digging the song choice for Kai… The best guy thus far.. Although, that’s not incredibly difficult… And my parents, who are watching, loved it also…

  47. Rachel wrote on 25. Feb 2009

I’m pretty sure he looks and sounds like an axe murderer. I am a little bit scared of him; I’m not gonna lie…

  48. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

From what I’ve seen of the men tonight, Adam doesn’t even need to sing, he can just stand up there and take a bow and make the final 12.

  49. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

FINALLY, a performance worthy of Idol from Mish. She is through.

  50. Rachel wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Totally right about Adam. But seriously what is going with the girls?! Mishavonna! AMAZING!

  51. Idol Battles wrote on 25. Feb 2009

<3… I’m so glad they saved the best for last… Mishavonna… HOT! Lovin’ it. Took a good song, made it her own without ruining it…

PS… they backup band should be fired, shot, and never allowed on TV, ever.. ever… ever… My god, they are terrible…

  52. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

C’mon Adam, save us dude. You have it in you, I hope like heck you chose a good song.

  53. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

On the backup band – I agree – WORST in the history of earth! I swear their backup singers are singing off-key! Just awful.

  54. EmJay wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Was that a sound system F up again???

  55. Rachel wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Oh Adam. You are a great singer. That is a horrible song. Good luck Kris.

  56. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Adam…dude…satisfaction? You sang the hell out of it but I HATE that frickin song! Oh well, I wasn’t crazy about it.

Why would someone with Adam’s magnificent tone and vocal quality sing a song by the Stones.

  57. Bill Mitchell wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Also, on Adam, the lip licking early on? Just weird to me. I mean, he is great but I just want him to sing a beautiful song and not oversing it.

Geesh, this year has been a song choice nightmare.

  58. EmJay wrote on 25. Feb 2009

    Polls open :)

  59. Rachel wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Is it bad that I don’t remember anyone before Allison? I think tonight is between Allison, Kris (whom I am loving even more with the recap), Megan, Mishavonna, Jesse (just hanging on) and Adam (because he is Adam.)

  60. zBella wrote on 25. Feb 2009

I just don’t get the big fuss over Adam. He did not do that song justice…and what was all that weird stuff he doing while singing. It was more annoying than the *all over the place* stuff Norman was doing.

  61. Idol Battles wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Adam Lambert… OMG… He’s absolutely amazing… He may be too over the top to win… But he’s going to be a big big star…

He’s my favorite of the night (of course) and better than Danny, IMO

  62. realtalk wrote on 25. Feb 2009

I think Adam Lambert is a hack……. but I hope he makes it through so he doesn’t ruin wildcard chances for Ricky Braddy & Anoop.

  63. Josh wrote on 25. Feb 2009

    Kris Allen was the best!!!!

  64. d wrote on 25. Feb 2009

As I look at the dial tone site it is between Megan, Kris and Matt for the wildcard.

All you people voting for Adam and Allison, they are blowing away the competition. Some people need to start thinking about who they want for the wildcard and start voting for that person because, as it stands, Matt Breitzke may be sneaking into the wildcard.

    For me tonight, it was

    Adam
    Allison
    Kris
    Megan
    Mishovanna
    Giraud

One more comment: If Matt Giraud does not come back it will be because of his terrible body language as he was watching every contestant after him perform. Dude, we all know you blew it (though not by that much) but, for me, your TERRIBLE attitude is what turned me off on you. I was all set to vote my little fingers off for you because I don’t trust this wildcard thing but now I am spending the night voting for Kris as he outsung all below him and, IMHO, deserves the 3rd spot.

  65. Willo wrote on 25. Feb 2009

All righty! American Idol Observations for 02/25/2009 …

#1 – The judges got a plug in for “The Chosen One” even though he didn’t sing tonight – Danny Gokey. I am hoping the fact he’s TCO this year will not hurt his chances.

#2 – Norman/Nick was BRILLIANTLY funny. OMG – I totally want to vote for him just to spite Simon. If he doesn’t make it through to the Top 12 – FOX has got to give him his own show. Brilliant.

#3 – Top Guy = Adam – hands down the best performance of the night. He is starting to remind me of a Gay Elvis though … he’s got the same chiseled chin, same eyebrow moves, etc … he’s got to tone down the theater and jack up the ADAM. Ya’ know?

#4 – Top Girl = Mishannova – I said earlier this week on Joe’s Place Blog that Misha should not be discounted by the idolee’s. She clearly out sung the other females tonight – even though the judges gave her a bad rap. Which brings us to ..

#5 – # Three spot – Alison. How many times can the judges remind us she’s “Only 16″. Yeah – but does her age matter all that much? She blew away the majority of this group – and is hands down a natural rocker.

Now … that leaves us with a few unknowns … who could steal away Alison’s spot. Matt B. did really great – I actually love the Tonic song he chose … but it’s one I used to sing to hubby so it has special meaning. Kris did a fantastic job with Man In The Mirror as well. Jesse – I loved her! She’s got such a fabulously unique voice … but I’m not sure America is ready for her. She’s sexy to boot .. defo get the male votes.

I wasn’t diggin’ Megan as much as the judges. Kai disappointed me. The others … meh.

It’s going to be an interesting night tomorrow night. Even though Idol isn’t the place for him .. I’m secretly hoping America votes Norman/Nick through. The entertainment value he could bring to some of the boring theme nights would just be … amazing.

Final note – I finally saw a heart inside Simon Cowel tonight. I think he’s growing soft on us … and I actually like it!

  66. Brooke wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Adam’s song choice was horrible but I don’t care b/c he rocked it! Love him! He is incredible! Can’t wait to see more of him! :)

  67. D wrote on 25. Feb 2009

This CANNOT happen two weeks in a row! Matt Breitke has passed Megan and is almost past Kris for the wildcard. Now this dial idol site is not all knowing but they called Sarver winning the wildcard last week and have a good history of results predicting who gets voted off.

Sorry, Matt Breitske but you don’t deserve to go through based on your performance tonight and the sum of your performances since the beginning.

Hey, one was bad enough but if Matt B. gets through we will have two people in the first two weeks who have ZERO chance to win this competition.

Sorry if that sounds harsh to some of you but, man, this is not right if this trend continues.

  68. Jackson wrote on 25. Feb 2009

For what it’s worth, I thought Mishavonna was fantastic and the judges gave her almost NO praise….same thing as Ricky Braddy last week, except Misavonna didn’t have Paula in her corner. I wish they would go back to old way, now it’s look like there’s a great chance we will never see Mishavonna on Idol again….

  69. D wrote on 25. Feb 2009

On Norman/Nick, I agree. I said last year that if Danny with the attitude and the biker chick had made the tour it would have had MUCH more pizazz. They bring such a different sound and attitude. Ditto for Nick. Could you imagine him on tour? He would bring down the house.

On the voting Matt Giraud has now jumped into 3rd with Matt Breitzke 4th and Kris Allen 5th with Megan now 6th.

It seems like anyone’s race at this point but my man Allen is fading so I am, believe it or not, taking a reverse strategy. I am taking time off to go do something else. We will see what the West Coast does.

For me, right now, either Giraud or Allen with the other one going to compete in the wildcard with maybe Megan as a judge’s choice. That seems to make the most sense now.

  70. Doug wrote on 25. Feb 2009

I dont get it…Megan… i thought she sounded terrible , her voice just doesnt do it for me. My favorites were Allison and Adam with jessie my third pick.

  71. emma wrote on 25. Feb 2009

How is Matt G. and Matt B. in front of Kris on dialidol.com?? Start VOTING FOR KRIS!

  72. Jake wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Personally, the only performance I really liked from the past two shows was Ricky Braddy’s. It was just a pure vocal performance for me … no affectations. Danny Gokey’s, Alexis’, Adam’s, Allison’s, etc. were all just gimmicky for me, too affected. I should say though that Nick was truly entertaining … and he seems to be a very nice person, too.

  73. Matthew wrote on 25. Feb 2009

It better be Adam, Allison, and Mishavonna.

  74. Adam wrote on 25. Feb 2009

I agree with Doug, Megan really doesn’t sound that good. She has a cute, alternative look going that helps but her voice alone isn’t as good as Jessie or Allison.

Am I the only person that thought Giraud had a really good performance tonight?

  75. D wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Unless something changes it won’t be Mishovanna who is way down right now and has way too many people to pass.

Right now it is Adam, Allison and Matt Giraud although Jesse Langseth is making a late run and now stands 4th.

Again, if you believe the dial idol site……..

  76. Cassidy wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Matt Giraud deserves to be in the Top 12 – only because he’s soley given the best performance to date on this Idol show, with his rendition of “Georgia.”

I still think it is incredibly unfair that they removed the contestant’s ability to use instruments in one of the most IMPORTANT performances of their life.
They should be allowed to…be WHO THEY ARE! Easy for Danny and Adam who never perform with instruments! They were right in their comfort zones. NOT fair for people like Jackie Tohn, Stephen Fowler…and MATT GIRAUD. Not fair at all. And these people have spent hours practicing and perfecting two instruments. Let them play!

Matt Giraud is a soulful, singing piano player. I.E. Billy Joel, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder. He deserves another chance….to be allowed to be who he is!

My two favorites last year Jason Castro and Brooke White would never have made it to the Top 12 with this show this year they way it’s set up!

  77. Doug wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Anyone else notice the family members werent sitting up top this week? LOL Thanks to Ricky’s family i bet.

  78. Krisfan wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Guys, remember the texting votes as well. I know a lot of Kris fans texted because they were at the David Cook concert. Maybe Dial Idol will be wrong this week. Overall, the show sucked just like last weeks. Maybe it’ll get better when they get down to the top 12.

  79. Laura wrote on 25. Feb 2009

I cannot beleive dialidol has Matt G in third place…what??!! There were a bunch that outsang him tonight: Megan, Jesse, Kris…heck, even Nick/Norman. No way should Matt be in the top three of the night

  80. Cassidy wrote on 25. Feb 2009

MATT sang VERY WELL!! Go back and watch it! He was judged harder because of how well he did in Hollywood. And collectively Matt has had better performances than all of those you mentioned. :/

He already has his fanbase in place. That’s why this show shouldn’t be about ONE performance.

  81. D wrote on 25. Feb 2009

Last week this site called Michael Sarver the wildcard. While we won’t know what happens I won’t be sad if Matt Giraud is 3rd in this group. I WOULD be sad if Matt B. was 3rd.

The way I would like to see this play out if to have all of Kris, Jesse and Megan come back to the wildcard show.

While I like all the contestants if we look at all their performances, I think this would make sense as Kris, Jesse and Megan, all things considered, should not have made it through YET and, along with Anoop and Ricky, would still leave 3 spots for the next group.

  82. Grace wrote on 25. Feb 2009

I loved Normund! I’m willing to bet he’ll get in as the third pick tomorrow. (His raw numbers on DI are high.) Let’s face it: AI needs Normund to bring the gossip and the ratings! He’ll never win but they need to keep him in until at least the top 10!

  83. Grace wrote on 25. Feb 2009

I love Matt Giraud as a real singer and I think he’ll be brought back in the Wildcard round. He’s too good for the show to let him go so easily. His “Georgia” was really fabulous.

    1. Adam

for tonight show, I love allison iraheta…so good!! i hope shell be on the top 12. Of course , we already know adam lambert will have a place on the top 12^_^( No dramas at all). Mish and megan was also good and pick a right song. Nick is a performer and very funny on stage.

Im guessing 1 guy and 2 girls will advance to the next round(top 12)
    Top Guy: Adam Lamber
    Top Female: Allison Iraheta
    Top Other: Megan Or Mish

  86. eric wrote on 26. Feb 2009

my picks for who i think will go on are:

    1. Adam – obvious choice, sang a song that if sung by anyone else would have come off karaoke and been bashed by the judges but he has one hell of a voice and will sail through.

    2. Allison – best girl tonight by a mile, sometimes her voice goes out which could be a bit of her downfall but she will definitely go through after that

    3. Jessie – the 3rd spot imo will either go to her or matt(Giraud) but i think she sung better so im sticking her here even though i think matt will steal it based off past performances and likability(we all saw what that did for michael). im fine with either of them though because jessie has a very nice voice and a good personality and i think matt will have some really great performances if he sticks around.

im not getting all the great comments about mishavonna, i think she sang very weak tonight and agree with the judges on her. nick was everything i was hoping for plus some, that takes some serious balls to make it this far and do a performance that is all but guaranteed to get you booted from the show, well played sir.

  87. Kaitlyn wrote on 26. Feb 2009

Matt Giraud let his nerves get the best of him tonight. I still think he’s one of the better artist on this show so I voted for him.

top guy : Kris Allen ( he shows what kind of person he really is, he give his best 110% and he knows how to controlled his voice. great performance… good luck!)
Top female : Megan ( she is very relaxed and enjoying what shes doing, ok performance!)
Third place : Adam or Eve? whatever! (shouting, uncontrolled voice and definitely judges like him or her? its that only kind of song that he/she can sing and he is gay!? right? PEACE!!!!!!

I agree with everything you said. If you check out Adam’s youtube vids, you will see he can sing virtually any style of music and can be really “pretty” with his vocals. I am glad he came out fearless and intense. He is the only one I would pay money to see. It’s easier to tone things down than to teach someone to spice things up. I also liked Allison, though she needs to get some voice lessons to get out of her throat. She has a lot of talent but not the best technique, and AI will chew her voice up if she isn’t careful.

The only performer that, for me, was remotely entertaining (okay, Nick was, but that doesn’t really count ;-) ) was Adam. I would absolutely go to an Adam show; Paula was dead-on with that comment. Allison was pretty good. The others tried, but were off-key or…well, off (talking to you, Jasmine, Kai, and others). How to pick a Top 12? And BTW, for those of you who are gay bashing, you really have a problem.

Prediction: Adam and Danny in the finals. I thought that before last night, and I think it even more now.

One more thing: If Ricky and Adam aren’t in the Top 12, and that is not a given, this season will be a travesty.

Last night was just so underwhelming to me. Only a couple of people actually stood out. There were SOO many bad song choices last night.

    My prediction:
    Top Male: Adam
    Top Female: Allison
    Third Person: Kris

I LOVED Kris’ version of Man in the Mirror. It was VERY well done. Matt G. let me down HUGE with Coldplay’s song. I was actually looking forward to that performance because I did like Matt and LOVE Coldplay. I love Nick, its actually sad he won’t make it through. Matt B. has weird dance moves and he doesn’t need a mic stand.

I don’t know if contestant realizes that this could be the last night we see you. For the life of me, I don’t know why half the people picked the song they did. Other than Kris, Adam, Allison, and Nick, none of the songs really showed off the contestant’s talent..
