“American Idol” Contestant Booted
TMZ has learned Top 36 “American Idol” contestant Joanna Pacitti was forced to pull out from the show because of ties to an A.I. exec.
Last night Joanna made the cut, but this morning “American Idol’s” website revealed this: “It has been determined that Joanna Pacitti is ineligible to continue in the competition.”
So what the hell does that mean? Glad you asked: Joanna’s former manger at Geffen (yeah, she had a record deal) is now a big wig at 19 Entertainment (which produces “Idol”). It’s unclear how that went unnoticed for five months, but we’re told producers demanded her resignation yesterday. We’re told Joanna refused to do it.

From the sounds of it, they just asked her to resign LAST NIGHT….I cannot believe that is right. Also, Note the part that Joanna REFUSED to resign.
Good riddance! You had your chances previously.American Idol handled this very poorly imo!
You know, it’s not like they didn’t already know this. They just saved this until the last minute to create drama.
Why did the producers at AI wait until she made the top 36 to DQ her? If they were so concerned about her professional ties, shouldn’t they have cut her during Hollywood week instead?
it was all planned that after the announcement of top 36 was aired, they will create issue about Joanna Pacitti and her previous career. It took them months before they run a background check on her? BS. I knew her even before she auditioned [cuz one of her songs was, and still is, my favorite.] and it’s impossible for idol not to. It’s such a shame for idol cuz Joanna’s fans are also affected. We have waited for long to support her but now we wouldn’t be able to.
I think its unfair for the side of MS. Pacitti, coz…why they put her in to top 36…then changed her …it is like…your chewing a gum..then threw it coz there is no taste..and eat anoher one…plz.. put in back Joanna Pacitti…it is really unfair
and…another one..she can still continue her journey..just resigned to 19E….why carly smithson..??..and kristy …lee cook..they have also album…so plz. put her back in top 36…and one thing more….there is no favoritism..coz..if your voice is not that good…the people will not vote you
Hi Bim. The reason she was kicked off is not because of a contract with 19E but a friendship that she has with some upper executives on 19E – the parent company of American Idol. They will never allow her back.
