This group is LOADED. This is gonna be tough for the boys, for sure. Give me your opinions………who’s the top boy, top girl, and the third highest vote getter? Will any come back for the Wild card?
Here’s how the voting will work:
The top BOY vote getther will get into the top 12
The Top GIRL vote getter will get into the top 12
The Next highest Vote Getter (boy or girl) will get into the top 12
If voting breaks down like this:
Highest: Boy – Will make the top 12
2nd: Boy – Will make the top 12
3rd: Boy
4th: Boy
5th Girl – Will make the top 12
(Think this is fair? I actually prefer it the old way. We get to see more of the top 12 before they get to the top 12.)
Elimination will be on Wednesday. The following week the second group of twelve will perform and the same thing will happen…and then the final 12 will perform. We will then have our top 9 of 12. Then there will be a wild card show. I’m not sure how this will work exactly, but I believe the judges will place the final 3 into the top 12. I THINK they will be choosing three performers to put into the top 12. There will not be a vote of the wildcard. I’m not a fan of this AT ALL. I think America needs to VOTE for the wildcards….but who knows….

JP – have we heard anything more on why Jamar might still be in Hollywood? The judges stated at the end of his segment “Would you consider coming back?” – which leads me to believe he IS a wild card choice.

Talk about…WOAH!! I can’t believe this many top notch singers are put into the same group. A lot of my favorites are in this ONE group!! Ughh…what to do??

Ricky has got to come in and blow everyone away. With no prior AI pimping, it’s gonna be tough for him. He’s amazing. It’s going to be way tough to beat Anoop and Danny.

Casey Carlson and Tatiana don’t have a shot in hell of making it into the top 12. The top girl will either be Ann Marie Boskovich or Jackie Tohn and I’d expect to see Stevie Wright during the wildcard show.
Danny Gokey will place for the guys and I think anoop will be the wildcard for the night.

This is off topic, but I thought everyone should know that Joanna Pacitti has been disqualified from the competition and replaced with Felicia Barton. WOW! They knocked the plant right out of the competition.

Stevie and Ricky should be Wild Card. Anoop and Danny will be tough to top, and they’re good, so… I want to see more of Anoop. And I’m curious for Ricky.
I’m so bummed by this new format of singing in groups. It seems unfair especially with this first group having so many of the best guy singers. Anoop and Steve Fowler are my favorites, but my guess is Danny Gokey will be the top guy. Ann Marie will probably be top girl, and the third vote getter will likely be Alexis, Anoop, or Brent.

Didn’t they kind of do it this way on Season 1?
Ricky really did get screwed. Unless Danny or Anoop screw up in a really offensive way I can’t see their fanbases not sailing them through. Ricky is lucky he has at least one judge’s support though. I’ll bet the producers review the vote totals before the Wild Card round.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the girl out of Ann Marie/ Alexis who doesn’t make it gets into the wild card round too.
I’m making my predictions based upon Stephen Fowler’s poor ability to choose songs or manage his time, and Michael and Brent splitting their votes. If any of them have really good nights I’d say it’s all up for grabs.

And I predict Danny and Anoop to go Top 5, though I would have said that about Michael Johns last season. (I’m hoping Adam goes Top 10, too, but I don’t know…he’s kind of a polarizing figure.) Danny is my number one, and unless he messes it up somehow, I could see him taking it all, even this early on. I don’t think there will be any backlash, the way there could be with Lil Rounds, whom some of us are not nearly as into as the judges. I am not happy about this group–too many strong singers–but I think AI is intent on hooking and keeping viewers throughout the duration of the season.

It’s hard to say who “deserves” to be going to next round since they haven’t actually performed yet. Although Gokey has been highly touted, there have been other years such when early favorites fizzled like Ace and Jason “Sundance” Head, or even the Mario guy who left the contest who was actually the favorite over Carrie Underwood. I don’t believe Jackie Tohn has connected, though the judges love her. I’m not sure how they came up with the 3 groups, but this group is so overloaded from what we’ve seen it’s unbelivable. It’s a shame that Casey and Stevie haven’t got nearly any air time for singing other than original auditions. My gut tells me Anoop is very popular among college kids, and will have a major voting block from Indian Americans, and he’s really good. Also, everyone I’ve talked to really connect with the Michael Sarver guy (he’s a sleeper).

I think to be fair, they should let the top three go in the next round whether it is male or female.
Ricky fans, you’ve got to vote for him or he’ll get lost in the shuffle. (I would say that about Danny and Anoop, but I don’t think they need to worry–yet–although who knows when we get Top 12, assuming they both make it.) This format is ridiculous. I don’t understand how you put so many strong singers in Round 1, even if you want to keep viewers interested. Most of the contestants are very talented (Tatiana withstanding). I don’t even know who most of the singers are in the other two groups (except for Lil Rounds, Adam, Nathaniel, and Norman/Nick). Please, who is in charge of programming this season? Is there any chance that Nigel’s departure to focus on So You Think You Can Dance and other projects has caused so much disjointedness (to be kind) so far?!
I am hating this format. I loved it when they did away with it after Season 3. The past 4 seasons have been great because the singers perform 3 times before they hit the top 12 stage. It gives them a chance to warm up to the stage and to also showcase their talents to a higher degree. My guesses are:

3rd Place: Anne Marie Boskovich, Ricky Braddy(who has a magical and awesome voice), or Alexis Grace

Really good singers in this group. It is ashamed that we might lose one of them to the likes of Von Smith or Norman Gentle.

I cannot stand the way they are doing this. They loaded the whole first group (minus Tatiana) with good singers and in week 2 or 3 we will have a group of people who can’t sing well and we will be stuck with the best of the worst of the top 36.
