Here’s my predictions…what are yours?

100% Allison and Adam will be part of the top 12.

The third position is all just a guessing game.  I am guessing that Kris or Matt G.  will get that third spot.  Although I wouldn’t mind seeing Mishavonna there.

Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta 100% will be going to the Top 12. Third spot could be either Matt G., Kris Allen, Jesse Langseth, or Megan Corkrey.

I didn’t particularly like Matt G.’s performance last night but I voted for him based off what I’ve seen him do so far and I think once he gets his keyboard/piano back, he’ll be a force to be reckoned with.

  2. Joes Place says:

Yeah, that’s hy he’s got a shot at getting in. EXISTING FANBASE. That’s also why Ricky Braddy Didnt get in.

  3. Cristina says:

Adam & Allison for sure. I think that’s a given based on performance alone. The other spot could go to a number of them.

Matt based on previous, although I would NOT vote for him. He was in my top 5 going into the top 36 but anyone that goes from outstanding to a horrific train wreck without an instrument should go home. I’d like to see Meagan or Jesse but Normund or Kris could pull it off too. I’m excited to see who it is!

  4. Rachel says:

    I agree with you Holly.

My other thought is (and don’t get me wrong, I like Matt G.) but shouldn’t he be able to perform with or without a piano if he’s going to be the American Idol? Shouldn’t the Idol be able to perform in any type of way?

  5. x says:

Based on what I saw last night, it should be Adam, Allison, and Kris or Jesse. Matt G. wasn’t good last night. He deserves a spot in the wildcard to redeem himself, but with only three spots, it really shouldn’t go to him.

And if Kris doesn’t make the top 12, we have another Ricky Braddy situation of an unknown nailing it, only to get cut by someone with a pre-existing fanbase. With only three wildcards, it’s a shame.

  6. Jason says:

I voted for Kris, but since he had lack of TV time unlike Matt G. I’m guessing the last spot goes to him, hopefully Kris gets a wildcard where he and Ricky go into the Top 12.

  7. Jason says:

The other two will be Adam and Allison. And Megan will get wildcard and Kris.

  8. Sara says:

Adam and Allison for sure. Kris sang better than Matt, and I think Jessie is worthy as well. I don’t think it is fair for the judges to mention anyone’s Hollywood performance, as not everyone was shown equally during Hollywood week. That is why this format sucks.

  9. Jackson says:

In my humble opinion, Mishavonna was fantastic. Both her and Allison were heads above the rest. One got the judges favor and the other didn’t. Mishavonna did get a good deal of acclaim from music critis such as the Slezak from EW.com. I think Adam Lambert who according to Vegas odds is actually favored over Gorkey to win it all, will flame out. His high singing voice and looks do not appeal to men or middle America (as say a Daughtry-like would). When Paula made the comment about it’s not like watching “American Idol” but a “Adam Lambert concert”, I thought her biases towards cute guys has reach a ridiculous level. She recently expanded her favorite list from 3 guys to 6 guys.

  10. M!KE says:

    Top Male: Adam
    Female: Allison

    Next: Matt G.

  11. Bill Mitchell says:

Allison is flat on all her big notes. Obvious reason? Her voice isn’t trained like Adama’s is. Thye can work on that as it is a more a technique thing than ability.

Anyone else think she sounds like PINK at the beginning.

  12. Sara says:

Bill, I did. Great comparison! I like her spunk and RAW talent, especially for someone so young. Hopefully the AI vocal coaches can help her improve her technique, as I think she is talented.

  13. suebrody says:

    Best male: Adam
    Best female: Allison
Third slot: Kris or Matt G (who was disappointng last night).

I must admit that I am concerned about the talk re: Adam’s “flamboyance” (not on here but elsewhere). It’s often a code word for “gay,” and that bothers me A LOT. I love his voice. Is he right for Idol? I don’t know, but if he tones it down a bit (only b/c he is on TV and not in the theater), he and Danny could be Top 2. I want Ricky and Anoop in the Top 12, but the judges could split the voice, and I think Simon prefers Anoop over Ricky.

Oh, and I would go to an Adam show in a HEARTBEAT.

  14. Cate says:

suebrody – are you kidding me? I don’t like to flout my own writing on other peoples’ blogs, but please, I’d like you to read this

  15. D says:

Although not always accurate, the dial idol website has it Adam and Allison 100% and Matt G. as the 3rd. Right now they have Jesse as 4th but, if sources are to be believed, that would not be worth anything in terms of who gets selected for the wildcard. Given the margin for error, even though Matt G. looks like a solid 3rd, it would not surprise me if Jesse or Kris gets the wildcard tonight.

What WOULD surprise me, given the results, is if Ms. Henson gets the wildcard tonight. She was way behind in the poll.

  16. suebrody says:

Thanks for linking to your blog, Cate. It’s one thing to say it’s gay, it’s another to pretend you (not you, someone else) won’t vote for him b/c he is over the top when the real reason is that he is gay. He is what he is. Love him or hate him but be honest about it.

  17. Cate says:

Maybe I misunderstood you the first time around. I thought you were saying you had a problem with him being gay? If that’s not the case, my apologies.

  18. suebrody says:

Oh, no, not at all, Cate!!! Absolutely the opposite. I thought Adam was fantastic, and whether he is gay or not is completely irrelevant. In fact, I didn’t even think about it until I read some anti-Adam-because-he-is-gay posts today. Vote for someone on his or her merits, and that’s it. He and Allison were the only singers I was even remotely interested in last night, and I was disappointed as a big Matt G fan. (BTW, my niece Jami, who is 12, didn’t particularly like Adam just because she thought he was too loud or something;it wouldn’t occur to her otherwise. She was also a huge Archuleta fan because, for one thing, she’s 12. :-) ).

I am hoping for a Danny v Adam or Danny v Adam v Anoop v Ricky v Alexis Top 5 (at this point, without accounting for next week’s show), but I don’t know if that will happen. We don’t even know if Ricky and/or Anoop will make it into the Top 12. I do not like this system at ALL.

  19. idolfan says:

Loved Adam last night! He’s a true performer! :)
And I think he’ll definitely be in the top 12!

    GO ADAM!

  20. Matt says:

Allison and Adam, for sure. I think Mishovanna was great Megan was alright, but I agree with Simon, sorta shouty towards the end. I think Kris is great, but Michael Jackson isn’t the way to go. No one will be taken seriously singing that. Honestly, I think the third spot will go to Jasmine, Megan, or Matt though. They’re well known and really popular. I think Matt was terrible though. Bordering on painful to listen too. Don’t get me wrong, I liked him a ton in hollywood though.I’d like to see kris again and Mishovanna too.

I just can’t wait to see my pick for next week, Felicia.

  21. Jude says:

Dial Idol was going crazy last night. Adam’s score was off the charts (it relaxed a little towards the end) and Allison was consistently ahead of the girls.

As for the 3rd spot, Dial Idol was playing ping pong with Megan and Kris for most of the voting period. Matt B. came in later on and Matt G. snuck it at the very end. If I’m correct, Dial Idol’s scores don’t reflect the entire 2 hour voting period which means that any of those 4 could be the 3rd place person. I think Kris had it the longest though.

  22. Brian says:

I thought Jesse and Mishavonna were the two best girls, but the judges for some reason didn’t want to give those two their due…even though they really couldn’t find anything bad to say about their singing.

  23. D says:

    Jude,

I have read the process somewhere but the numbers stop changing at 11 pm central time, right when the East and Central timezones stop voting and the Rocky and Western timezones stop. Don’t know how that is a representative sample but that is what I have noticed the last two weeks (not necessarily last year).

The dynamic WAS interesting for the 3rd slot, as you point out, as Jesse also blew by Megan in the last 30 minutes.

Again, we don’t know how accurate it is but the busy signals did give an indication that Michael Sarver stood the best chance to win the wildcard last week with Anoop being the next highest vote getter…exactly as it turned out.

This site is not always right, e.g., as I remember saying Michael Johns was safe last year when he was ‘voted’ off.

Still, if the results call the top 3 tonight again, that is more validation of their methodology which, as I indicated above, may not even take into account Western voters and obviously doesn’t include text messagers.

Interestingly, and scary to me, was that Matt B. had a lot of support early. Not as much as Sarver the week before but significant support. Is there a demographic here that we don’t know about for this show? I doubt it but you never know. Some think Matt B. was good last night but I can’t believe anyone thinks that Michael S. deserved the wildcard last week, yet he was hands down, all night, on the dial idol site the 3rd highest vote getter based solely, it appears, on a surge in the first 30 minutes of the voting.

  24. lexine says:

Top Male: Of Course Adam lambert no doubt at all

    Top Female: Allison Iraheta

    Top Other: Megan Corkrey

  25. Cassidy says:

    Adam and Allison…and Matty G.

He may not have performed to his best potential last night. But he sure has balls for taking on “Viva La Vida.” If it wasn’t for a bad case of vocal nerves, he would have been the best of the night.

Matt also has a quiet X-factor. He is appealing, humble, sincere, and has that inward determination to do well in the music business. Quit bashing the guy for one mediocre performance. At least it was memorable. Which I can’t say for the rest.

  26. SarahW says:

Jackson said: “I think Adam Lambert who according to Vegas odds is actually favored over Gorkey to win it all, will flame out. His high singing voice and looks do not appeal to men or middle America (as say a Daughtry-like would).”

Interesting. Even the straight, married guys at my work had praise for Adam’s performance last night and thought he was by far the best of the night.

suebrody – the “I won’t vote for Adam because I don’t like flamboyance/OTT singing/whatever” that really means “I won’t vote for Adam because he’s gay” really disappoints me. Too bad people still can’t move past that and just vote based on his worthiness as a vocalist. I couldn’t care less about his sexual preference. I just know he’s a hell of a singer and he entertains me. I can’t wait to see what he does on the show this season.

  27. Erin says:

I agree that Adam & Allison will advance to the top 12. The other spot is a bit tough but my bet is that either Kris or Megan will take that slot.

  28. Grace says:

Adam and Allison will be the top male and female — but I pick Nick for third place.

I’m pretty sure they’ll bring back some of the others (Matt G. and Megan, and maybe others) for the Wildcard round.

  29. suebrody says:

Sarah, I totally agree, but unfortunately, that is how I lot of viewers will vote. Clearly, the number of votes he received last night indicate how strong a singer he is, but as Simon said, he’s divisive–you either love him or hate him (I LOVE HIM). His voice is superior to nearly everyone else’s, and if anyone votes based on sexual preference, well, that’s just sad.

And I will note for like the 100th time–I hate, hate, hate this format. So many good singers who WOULD have had a second chance during Top 24 won’t go on. If we got to vote again, well, I could deal with it, but we have absolutely no say at this point (aside from next week’s voting), so if your favorite (for me it was Ricky) doesn’t come in third (and I voted for him last week–a lot), then he may well not make it into the Top 12. Unfortunate and frustrating.

  30. The Shane says:

I’m kind of wondering why everyone thinks Allison is totally safe. Sure, she was the best female, but Ricky was arguably the best male last week and he didn’t make it. The only real camera time Allison got prior was being shown making it into the top 36. I think she’s making it, but I’m not dead set on it.

I’m hoping Megan gets the third spot. At the least, I think it will go to a girl.

    - Adam Lambert
    - Allison Iraheta
    - Megan Corkrey

  31. Adam and Aillison will definitely get through. I think that Nick, Kris, Megan or Matt will be the 3rd place vote getter

  32. Josh says:

    I’d have to say

    Kris

    Adam

    and Allison

were easily the best performances of the night. Unfortunately Kris might get hosed a lose to weaker performance. If so, he’s a shoe-in for the wild card.

  33. Dialidol! Also, she was AMAZING! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED her performance!! She has so many new fans after her performance. We didn’t see much of her in hollywood week, only her ‘Because of you’ which I thought was really good

  34. Ryan_27 says:

    100% Lil Rounds ;D
