Who’s got the best shot at making it into the top 12 this week?
Oh, I just cannot STAND this new format. We are going to lose so many potential great contestants this week. If this was last year’s format – no one would remember who David Cook was. Anyway…
Here’s my take on how I think the votes will fall for our first group of 12. Remember, this is only my opinion. I would love to hear yours. I’m listing #6 to #1 for the boys and for the girls:
The Girls
#6
Casey Carlson
While Casey is cute, with an okay voice, the biggest thing she is known for now is forgetting her lines in Hollywood and for being Bikini Girl 2.0. There are SO MANY brunettes this year (as opposed to the blonds of AI7), that Casey just blends with the rest. She also didn’t get any kind of heartwarming back story to give her a boost.
#5
Stevie Wright
Stevie was one of the girls whose initial auditions had people talking. She’s only 16 and has a great voice and personality. However, Hollywood week Stevie became invisible…no drama seems to equate to no air time during the tension filled Hollywood week. She is another young brunette and it’s been a good month since we first heard Stevie sing. We do have a pretty short attention span. Unless she reminds us how good she is, she’ll be gone on Wednesday.
#4
Alexis Grace
Alexis has a great voice and a great back story, that’s why is a surprise that here’s been little buzz about her thus far. She seems to enjoy all genre’s of music, so I will be excited to see what Alexis brings to the table and will be very happy if she places higher among the girls.
#3
Ann Marie Boskovitch
Ann Marie has had plenty of Airtime, so most viewers will know who she is during her first performance for America. She’s got a good, solid voice. She just doesn’t appear confident enough to really take command of the stage. Although she’s been given plenty of opportunity, her personality just hasn’t shown through. I have placed her third solely because of the airtime.
#2
Tatiana Del Toro
How I loathe Tatiana. I have to force myself not to push the all-too-easy FF button on my Tivo remote each time she appears on camera. I guess her voice is OKAY, but her voice has nothing to do with why she might stick around. Let’s face it, America loves the crazy. Who doesn’t slow down to watch a train wreck?
#1
Jackie Tohn
In a season filled with young pop girls, Jackie really stands out. Her voice isn’t the best, by any stretch, but she does stand out. She’s had plenty of air time and a cute personality. Though not my favorite of this batch of girls (that would be Alexis), I believe that she has the best chance to move onto the top 12.
The Boys
#6
Stephen Fowler
With no airtime until Hollywood, no back story at all Stephen has no chance of making the top 12. The only time America got to know him at all was when he became overconfident and pulled a “Brooke White” at the most critical time in the audition process. Stephen Fowler is 100% fodder. AI knows he has no chance of making the top 12, and that’s what works for them. I think it is an injustice that Stephen was placed into the top 36 and Jamar – who always did great - was given the boot. Jamar may have put a monkey wrench into AI’s idea of a top 12, but Stephen does not.
#5
Brent Keith
Brent has gotten the airtime, but he hasn’t stood out. He’s just a cute guy with a okay voice. Most of middle America has no clue what type of artist Brent really aspires to be. They have no idea that he is a country artist or that he appeared on Nashville Star. With so many standouts among the men, Brent just blends into the background.
#4.
Ricky Braddy
If Ricky Braddy gets cut on Wednesday – and let’s face it, there’s no way he will get America’s #1 Guy vote – then I think it will be a travesty. Idol couldn’t bother to show us 30 seconds - one line – of him singing. We still haven’t heard Ricky’s voice! Paula came out and named him as one of her three favorites, otherwise we would know nothing about him at all. We know he has the potential to be good, but without so much as a smidge of a song, Ricky will most likely be another be a casualty on Wednesday. His only hope seems to be the Wildcard.
#3
Matt Breitzke
Matt has been given American Idol’s best type of back story arc – the heartwarming father and blue collar worker that is trying to change his families life for the better. I really enjoy Matt’s voice and he seems like a great guy. If Matt’s arc were to end on Wednesday – which it probably will – his life has been changed for the better. Arc comes full circle.
#2
Anoop Desai
If Anoop were in any group besides this one, then he is the top male vote getter. He’s had plenty of airtime, comes across as very likable and has a killer voice. AI I smart. They know that he will earn the coveted #3 position (“Next Highest Vote Getter”) in tonight’s contestant pool and therefore he will be moving into our top 12.
#1
Danny Gokey
Do I even need to give a reason why Danny will be the #1 tonight? AI has given him such a storyline, that for America to do anything but dial till their fingers bleed for Danny is inconceivable. Not only is Danny on this journey for his deceased wife, Sophia, but now his is doing it for his BFF, Jamar – This year’s Josiah Leming. Without AI’s singular goal of seeing Danny in that top 12, Jamar would be standing next to him in the top 36. Danny is one of my 3 favorite contestants this year, but I am just telling it like it is. Danny has a kick ass voice and a great personality. AI didn’t need to pimp him to the hilt. We get it, you like him. Welcome to the top 12, Danny!
Top Boy Vote Getter: Danny Gokey 100%
Top Girl Vote Getter: Jackie Tohn 80%
Third Highest Vote Getter : Anoop Desai 100%
Wildcard Possibilities: Ricky Braddy, Tatiana Del Toro

Ricky is totally going through.
He’s got enough people who love him without airtime!
RICKY BRADDY ALL THE WAY!
You put Matt ahead of Ricky? Really? God, I hope not, and double on train wreck Tatiana getting the number 2 slot. Seriously. It was one thing for Top 36, but now it’s way too serious to give her any more face time. Idol lovers, PLEASE vote this week. And you know, Jackie may make it, but Ann Marie and Casey have a lot of fans, so don’t rule any of them. I am not a huge Jackie fan, but I know a lot of others are. I am voting for Danny (again, you never know, ala Daughtry and Michael Johns) AND for Ricky. I think Anoop will be fine, and Brent doesn’t have a chance, IMO, with less than zero face time.
Oh, and yeah, I will probably be bitter about Jamar till next season, ALTHOUGH his angry vlog rant did him no favors.
The only Reason Matt is ahead of Ricky is airtime. Plain and simple. However I do believe that Ricky will be included in the Wildcard, and quite possibly top 12. From what I understand the Wildcard will be comprised of 8-10 ousted top 36ers. The Judges will have them perform and the JUDGES will place 3 into the top 12.
I think Ricky Braddy will make it, based on Paula putting him in her top three.
Ricky will be eliminated on Wednesday. HOWEVER, I firmly believe he will be back for the wildcard. That’s the performance that he needs to be putting all of his time, energy, emotion and passion into. He is one of Paula’s three favorites. Adam and Danny are the other two. They will both make it into the top 12 on their respective niights. That leaves Ricky as Paula’s only other Favorite. She will be pushing for him to be in the top 12. If he has a great performance, he’s a shoo-in to be included in the top 12.
Yes! Danny FTW!

I kinda disagree. I think Anoop has the higher chance since a lot of people like him and already seems to have a huge fanbase. I think Danny will be second because AI is pushing for him, but it doesn’t seem the audience likes him as much as AI does. For the girls, I think Jackie is a little annoying and I think Ann Marie has the higher chance. If you notice the voting patterns, people usually vote for girls who seem down to earth, not saying Jackie isn’t but Ann Marie more. Tatiana has no chance in this format since people won’t go dial crazy to keep her in.
I totally don’t get your love affair with Jamar. He was terrible and the only reason he got on air was because he was BFF with Danny. In a year where all the boys are very eccentric anyway, Jamar didn’t stand out. EVERYONE this year is different! There’s no mainstream contender. He’s the least talented (with Nate) of the weirdos.
This wasn’t a theater show and they have to have at least some guys in the competition that don’t aspire to be fashion models. Had they put him through to the top 36, he likely would have made it to the top 12 based on airtime alone. He’s no where CLOSE to one of the 6 guys.
And I’m hoping that everyone is as sick as Danny as I am, even though I know that’s a huge long shot. Sometimes I think the pimping and favorite status ends up hurting contestants more than helping. I’d much rather see Ricky, Anoop, or even Stephen. But I’m sure that won’t be the case.
I think the girls are WIDE open. I think all 5 have a chance to move to the top 12 (Tatiana doesn’t exist in my world). I think it will really, truly be a “who sings the best on that given night” because I just don’t see any having a HUGE fan base. I hope that’s the case, should be interesting!
Seriously…if Tatiana makes it through, I’m done with AI this season. So much face time and publicity (thanks alot, AI producers) gives her a chance of making it (not much, but a little). I cannot imagine Danny, Anoop, and hopefully Ricky going Top 12, but you never know (if Danny doesn’t go Top 12 I’ll be SHOCKED). I am a HUGE Danny fan (I see Top 5), but I’d really like to see Anoop and Ricky (shout out to the Braddy Bunch!) go to Top 12, too. Those are the ones I’ve been pushing for the past few weeks. I’d like to see Adam in the Top 12, too, and I think he has a pretty good chance. As for Normund and Nathaniel, who knows?! I’m not voting for either of them, but there is a sympathy vote for Nathaniel and a “what the heck!” Normund vote (at least he knows what he’s doing!) that Tatiana can’t get, IMO.
I won’t be done, but if she does make it through, I will start using the FF on my remote, for sure. As for Normund/Nick, at least he is entertaining in a non-trainwreck way – which surprises me . I like him and will vote for him. Unless he’s up agains Adam.
I though Michael Sarver (sp?) was in this group and not Matt Breitzke
Read my post titled “A Change in the first group of 12″
I think that I’m going to watch and voted honestly according to who does best.
That’s the way I’m going to do it too!!!
I just watched Idol Wrap and Justin Guarini was also surprised about Jamar’s departure AND noted that in previous seasons neither Tatiana nor Normund would have made it through, though he is a big Danny fan (as is Kimberly Caldwell). Anoop and one of the Matt’s got mentioned, but Ricky. The whole lack of airtime for Ricky continues to baffle me. Guess I’ll have to vote extra hard for him next week. And yes, I’ve felt that you vote FOR someone whom you genuinely want to win, so I’ll read posts at the VFTW website, but I can’t see me ever voting with them.
Why do think that they’ve grouped such a strong singers in this group? Very curious, i think they have favorites that they want to make it through. So grouping talented singer in one group will give them better chances. What do you think?
danny will without any doubt make the top 12. not sure about the girls but i think alexis grace is the dark horse there and anoop should grab the next best vote getter. all the guys in this group have really good voices so it should be interesting.
Nobody this season can compare to Danny Gokey!!!
GO GO GOKEY!!!
DANNY GOKEY FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ricky Braddy is amazing! It does stink that they haven’t shown him. The only way I know about him has been to find things about him online! (www.rickybraddy.com & http://www.thebraddybunch.com)
I really want him to make it tomorrow, but it might just have to happen through the wild card spot!
