ROCKERS INXS have sacked JD Fortune, the lead singer they recruited through a US reality show, without any warning.“They said, ‘Thank you very much’ … I found myself really alone because I had travelled with these guys for 23 months,” Fortune told Canada’s Entertainment Tonight.
Fortune was the latest singer to join INXS, filling the enormous void left by the death of Michael Hutchence in a Sydney hotel in 1997.
A spokeswoman for the group said she could not comment on Fortune’s sacking, as did band member Kirk Pengilly’s fiancee Layne Beachley when contacted by Confidential.

This is VERY sad. I was pulling for JD to win the entire time and was VERY glad when he did. He has an incredible talent, but it’s possible the stardom went to his head and didn’t bode over to well with the band. It could also be a case of INXS not doing so well and blaming it all on JD. The sad thing is we probably will not ever hear the entire, true story.
UGH!! I didn’t start listening to INXS until JD came in and did “Afterglow” Actually I never listened to any of their songs except that one. He was amazing in that song.
How stupid. JD was the best contestant on the show, and they’re just gonna kick him out of the band? They spent all this time finding a new lead singer, and are gonna make him go back to living in his car, while INXS goes back to being has beens.
I wasn’t a JD fan, though I think they made the right choice when he won. It is pretty sad that he didn’t manage his money, and that they booted him unexpectedly. But, I am not surprised as I found the rest of the band pretty arrogant and self serving.
I know! JD was the first Fave I ever had that actualy WON a reality show. I went and saw their first 3 concerts. I am bummed!
according to perez hilton, jd was kicked out due to his cocaine addiction.. very sad..
JD was my fave too. He is very talented and IMO he was the best option for INXS.
What a sad story, I hope JD can get out of this and make a career as a solo artist. What a cruel way to end his dreams.
I hope he can recuperate. I love his voice and his performance style.
